On May 23, EPD responded to 301, calls for service and made 19 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last seven days is 293 and the average number of arrests over the last seven days is 30. The number of calls for service on this day last year was 236, and the number of arrests was 23. Over the last three years, the average number of calls for service received on May 23 is 246, and the average number of arrests, 40. 

 

05/23/17 23:30, 2100 BLOCK OF CUBIT ST

Menacing/Carry Concealed Firearm/Unlawful Use of a Weapon/Hit and Run – Case 1708265

Police responded to McDonalds on Cubit Street regarding a hit and run and shots fired. When police arrived they contacted the involved subjects and received information that a Subaru Forester was progressing through the drive thru when it was struck from behind by a Ford Focus. The driver of the Focus refused to provide contact information and subsequently struck the vehicle again. A Honda Civic then positioned his vehicle to block the Focus from leaving and the driver of the Focus, Darius Ramonjarai Moore, age 25, of Eugene, got out of the vehicle, threatened and pointing a handgun at the driver of the Civic. The female passenger in the Ford Focus, Jasmine Elizabeth Martina, age 23, was reported to have got into the driver’s seat of the Focus while Moore subsequently fired several shots while leaving the parking lot. The rounds struck a nearby residence in the 4100 block of Barger Drive. Police responded and located the Ford Focus near Roosevelt and Chambers and contacted Martina and Moore. After further investigation, Moore was arrested for Menacing, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Coercion, Carry Concealed Firearm and Reckless Endangering. Martina was arrested for Hit and Run. Both suspects were transported to the Lane County Jail on the charges.

Assault 2 – Case 1708220

Police responded to the business regarding a male subject who threw a glass bottle at a female employee. Police located the described subject, Jeremy Brian Bond, age 36, of Eugene, on the bike path between the areas of Acorn Park and Buck Street and contacted him regarding the incident. He was arrested for Assault in the Second Degree and transported to the Lane County Jail.

DUII – Case 1708198

A police officer on patrol observed a whithe 1995 Cadillac Deville traveling southbound on Chambers at a high rate of speed approach the intersection of W. 6th Avenue and came to a skidding stop with the front wheels several feet past the crosswalk, and westbound traffic swerved to avoid a collision with the vehicle. The officer contacted the driver of the vehicle, Joseph Matthew Homkow, age 25, of Eugene, and after further investigation, arrested him for DUII. He was also cited for Careless Driving.

Criminal Trespass 1 – Case 1708186

Police responded to a residence at the location regarding multiple subjects who were observed entering and exiting the location following the posting of trespass notices by the Lane County Sheriff’s Office. Police contacted the subjects, Danielle Marie Mertz, age 53, and Gerome Gann Mertz, age 34, in front of the residence, and arrested them for Criminal Trespass in the First Degree.


On May 16, EPD responded to 250 calls for service and made 20 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last seven days is 268 and the average number of arrests over the last seven days is 24. The number of calls for service on this day last year was 273, and the number of arrests was 14. Over the last three years, the average number of calls for service received on May 16 is 259, and the average number of arrests, 33.

DUII – Case 1707823

A police officer on patrol traveling north on Highway 99N observed a white 2000 Honda Accord traveling at a high rate of speed drift over the dividing lane, and subsequently drifted over the fog line before jerking back to correct its position. The officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and contacted the driver, Justin Michael Blain, age 34, of Eugene. After further investigation, Blain was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for DUII.

DUII – Case 1707817

Police and emergency vehicles were in the area investigating a rollover crash and observed a 2009 Ford Fusion sedan travel around the emergency vehicles and road block designators, until it was unable to proceed any further. A police officer contacted the driver of the vehicle, Daniel Lee Ward, age 41, of Eugene, and after further investigation, he was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for DUII and cited for Careless Driving.


On May 15, EPD responded to 271 calls for service and made 18 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last seven days is 275 and the average number of arrests over the last seven days is 24. The number of calls for service on this day last year was 226, and the number of arrests was 30. Over the last three years, the average number of calls for service received on May 15 is 226, and the average number of arrests, 34.

False Information To Police/Warrant – Case 1707750

A police officer on patrol observed a male subject who was walking south on Prairie Road in the northbound bicycle lane, and also observed an available sidewalk on the west side of the roadway. The officer contacted the subject, who provided false identifying information to police, and was eventually identified as Andrew Curtis Benson, age 25, of Eugene, and that he had six warrants for arrest. Benson was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail on the warrants and for False Information to Police. Benson was again contacted by police at the Lane County Jail and received eight additional charges for Fraudulent Use Credit Card (Cases 17-07285 and 17-06438).

DUII/Reckless Driving/Hit and Run – Case 1707738

Police responded to the area regarding a hit and run and received information that an SUV entered the highway from the onramp in the number two lane and continued to travel into the number one lane and sideswiped a 2000 Honda Accord. The SUV continued to travel eastbound on Beltline after the Accord pulled off the roadway. Police located the described Ford Explorer SUV in the area near the bike bridge at Valley River Center and contacted the driver, Andrew Ryan Holman, age 26, of Eugene, and observed damage to the Explorer that appeared consistent with the information of the incident. After further investigation, police arrested Holman for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, Hit and Run and Reckless Driving. He was also issued a citation for Driving While Suspended.

Disorderly Conduct – Case 1707702

Police responded to multiple calls regarding a male subject who was walking in traffic, and contacted the described subject, Erik Robert Farr, age 32, of Eugene. Following contact with Farr, he was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for Disorderly Conduct.

 

05/15/17 00:56, 2300 BLOCK OF ROOSEVELT BLVD

Harassment/Warrant – Case 1707699

Police responded to an apartment at the location regarding a dispute between two male subjects who were staying at the residence. Police received information that the two subjects were in a verbal dispute that escalated when Sean William Brenton, age 32, pushed the 51-year-old male victim, who fell and hit his head. Following contact with Brenton, police found information to arrest him on a warrant. He was transported to the Lane County Jail on the warrant and cited for Harassment.


On May 14, EPD responded to 202 calls for service and made 18 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last seven days is 282 and the average number of arrests over the last seven days is 26. The number of calls for service on this day last year was 286, and the number of arrests was 22. Over the last three years, the average number of calls for service received on May 14 is 250, and the average number of arrests, 26. 

 

Last week (Sunday, May 7 – Saturday, May 13) EPD responded to 1,974 calls for service and made 180 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last four weeks is 1,852 with 218 arrests. The number of calls for service during the same week last year was 1,979 with 196 arrests. Over the last three years, the average number of calls for service for this period was 1,693 and there were 198 arrests.



On May 10, EPD responded to 274, calls for service and made 21 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last seven days is 296 and the average number of arrests over the last seven days is 25. The number of calls for service on this day last year was 257, and the number of arrests was 22. Over the last three years, the average number of calls for service received on May 10 is 225, and the average number of arrests, 26.

Carry Concealed Weapon, Possession of Methamphetamine – Case 1707449

An officer patrolling observed a woman, later identified as Jaimie Alexandra Howell, age 20, in the Washington Jefferson Park after hours. He contacted her and found that she had a warrant. He arrested her on the warrant and found that she was in possession of methamphetamine and a concealed double-edged knife. She was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Carry Concealed Weapon. She was warned for violation of park rules.


05/11/17 00:01, 4098 W 11TH AVE/S BERTELSEN RD

Warrant – Case 1707444

An officer was driving in the area and noticed an Acura Integra with very dark tinted side windows. He performed a traffic stop and contacted the driver, Matthew Anthony Ray Whipps-Hicks, age 27, of Eugene. He found that Whipps-Hicks’ driver’s license was suspended and that Whipps-Hicks had three warrants for arrest (Lane County Circuit Court Failure to Appear on charges of Hit and Run and Reckless Endangering, and Municipal Court Failure to Appear Resisting Arrest, and a parole violation for Rape 3). Whipps-Hicks’ license was suspended Driving While Suspended violation for Failure to Appear at a hearing. He was taken into custody on the warrants and issued a citation for Driving While Suspended and Driving Uninsured.

Interfering with Police Officer, Animal Abuse – Case 1707432

An officer was sent to help an animal welfare officer locate the owner of a male British Bulldog, Cletus, who had recently bitten two people and needed to be quarantined. They located the owner, Benjamin Scott Goodman, age 39, across the street from his vehicle. He walked over with his two dogs, including Cletus. He was advised of the need for quarantine for Cletus and he became upset. He indicated he would rather kill Cletus and appeared to start to choke the dog. An officer intervened with a warning and advised Goodman he would be tased if he did not comply. Goodman slammed Cletus on the ground and officers commanded Goodman to get on the ground. After initially not complying Goodwill got on the ground. Goodman was cited for Animal Abuse 2, and Cletus was impounded. The other dog was taken into Animal Welfare as Goodman was going to jail and no one could care for her.

Fraudulent Use Credit Card, ID Theft, Fail to Register as Sex Offender – Case 1705688

A 40-year-old man had applied for a credit card, but not received it. He was contacted by the credit card company as he had an overdue payment on the card that he hadn’t received. After an investigation, his former roommate, Christopher S Fish, age 40, of Eugene, was found to have taken the card and used it. Fish also had not registered his address and is a sex offender, and he was wanted on a Parole Violation for a previous conviction of Identity Theft. He was arrested on the warrant and also charged with Fraudulent Use Credit Card, ID Theft, and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.

Disorderly Subject – Case 1707398

Police responded to the area regarding a female who was yelling, screaming and kicking a vehicle. Police located the described subject, Rosemary Vesta Gray, age 39, of Eugene, and contacted her regarding the information. She was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for Disorderly Conduct.

Felon In Possession of Firearm/Possession of Methamphetamine/Criminal Trespass 2 – Case 1707392

A police officer patrolling the south bank bike trail in Maurie Jacobs Park was flagged down regarding camping and contacted Jesus Anthony Marinez, age 27, of Eugene, who was in the area. During contact with Marinez, the police officer found that he was in possession of a firearm and illegal drugs. He was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for Felon In Possession of a Firearm, Carry Concealed Weapon, Possession of Methamphetamine and Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree.


On May 9, EPD responded to 299, calls for service and made 18 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last seven days is 294 and the average number of arrests over the last seven days is 26. The number of calls for service on this day last year was 246, and the number of arrests was 21. Over the last three years, the average number of calls for service received on May 9 is 239, and the average number of arrests, 38.

Possession of Heroin, Possession of Methamphetamine – Case 1707373

An officer spotted a Ford Escape with an obstructed rear window and noted the drive did not signal 100 feet prior to stopping along a curb. He contacted the driver, Wade Allen Arndt, age 49, of Eugene. Arndt did not have a driver’s license and there was a machete sticking up between the seat and center console. The officer asked him to get out of the car due to this and Arndt was compliant. The officer saw drug paraphernalia in the car. Arndt was suspended by Oregon DMV for Failure to Appear and he was also found to be in possession of heroin and meth. Arndt was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Heroin.

Carry Concealed Weapon, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession of Methamphetamine, False Info to Police Officer – Case 1707371

An officer responded to the area of N. Clarey and Aerial Way regarding possible drug activity near a parked Ford Explorer. He contacted three individuals, including Nicholas Daniel Smith, age 19, of Eugene. Smith initially provided a false name and was in possession of brass knuckles. He was taken into custody and it was found he had a warrant out of Benton County for Possession of Controlled Substance Methamphetamine. He was found to be in Possession of Methamphetamine. Smith was charged with Carry Concealed Weapon, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Providing False Info to Police Officer.

DUII, Driving While Suspended, Open Container – Case 1707366

An officer was dispatched after a man was reported to be intoxicated after driving to the 7-Eleven at 590 E. Broadway. The officer arrived and observed the man, later identified as Aceves-Arenzas Raul Garbriel Aceves-Arenzas, age 44, of Harrisburg, leaving in his car, then parking it on W. 2nd Avenue and Lawrence. The officer performed a stop and contacted the driver. After an investigation, an open container was found in the vehicle and it was found that Aceves-Arenzas was driving while suspended. He was charged with DUII, Driving While Suspended, and Open Container.

UUV, Forgery 1, ID Theft, Possession of Methamphetamine, Warrant – Case 1707359

A 1995 BVW sedan was stolen from a car dealership on May 8 after the female who entered the vehicle showed ID that was not hers, along with a check. She test drove it, but did not return. The check returned as not being valid. The car was spotted by the owner of the dealership and then it was parked at Albertson’s on W. 18th. There were four occupants and three entered the store, while one left the area. Officer arrived quickly and got a good description of the driver. Officers contacted the driver, Lindsay Kay Watson, age 34, inside the store. After an investigation it was found she had warrants out of Albany. she was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Forgery I, Identity Theft, and UPCS Methamphetamine.

The suspect in the above case, was also a suspect in this one – Case 1706911

A woman, later identified as Lindsay Kay Watson, age 34, was found to have left the store with more than $1,000 of merchandise. She walked away from security who tried to stop her, and left in a vehicle. Video surveillance and a Lane County Mug Shots photo helped lead to identifying Watson. When she was arrested in case 1707359, above, she was also charged with Theft 1, for the shoplift.

Reckless Endangering – Case 1707364

A man and woman were having a verbal dispute and an officer was sent to the location. When he arrived, he found the man standing on the sidewalk looking above him and yelling. The officer found that while the two were fighting, a third party in a second-story apartment, identified as Donald Arthur Rich, age 41, of Eugene, had thrown large objects out of his window at the pair. The woman was able to get out of the way, but the man needed help as he had to get out of his wheel chair. After an investigation Rich was charged with Reckless Endangering.

Theft 1 – Case 1707322

An officer was sent to report of a trespasser in the 1200 block of Interior Street. When the officer arrived, the trespasser had left but the officer was provided a report that the subject had a cart full of possible stolen items that were still at the location, and a description of the suspect. This was close to Walmart and the shopping cart was from Walmart. The officer contacted Walmart and she got further details of a theft that had occurred earlier in the morning. She was able to identify the suspect as Natasha Ariane Hargrove, age 37, and that more than $1,000 in merchandise had been taken. Another officer stopped Hargrove at 1200 Bertelsen Road and the first officer took her into custody.

Possession of Heroin, Criminal Trespass 2, Warrant – Case 1707328

An EPD School Resource officer at Sheldon High School received reports of a man, later identified as Anthony Jason Madonna, age 36, of Springfield, camping inside a tent near the high school softball field, which was on school property. Upon arrival, the officer contacted Madonna and found Madonna had two felony warrants. During the contact, the officer also found that Madonna was in possession of heroin. The officer took him into custody on the warrants and also charged him with Possession of Heroin and Criminal Trespass 2.

Burglary 1, Unlawful Entry Motor Vehicle, Warrant – Case 1707312

In the early morning hours, a couple heard a noise in their garage and went to investigate. The male victim encountered a man, later identified as Zachary Michael Lobue, age 33, at the front of his garage and chased him north on Sunset Drive. The suspect dropped a cell phone during the chase. The victim stopped running and called 911. It was discovered that items had been taken from the garage, which they had forgotten to secure. The responding officers got a good description of the suspect. A community member called to report seeing the suspect at Franklin and Onyx. Based on that tip, EPD officers located Lobue at 11th and Franklin. Lobue had a warrant and he was taken into custody on that and also charged with Burglary 1 and Unlawful Entry Motor Vehicle.

Possession of Methamphetamine, Warrant – Case 1707255

An officer on patrol saw a man on a bike without a rear reflector or red light. He stopped the man, identified as Derrick Joseph Bloomstrom, age 35. During the contact, the officer found Bloomstrom had four warrants for his arrest and was in possession of methamphetamine. His backpacks contained credit cards, gift cards, checks and mail for 17 different people. Attempts to locate victims of theft were not successful. Bloomstrom was taken into custody on the warrants and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine.


On May 8, EPD responded to 314 calls for service and made 20 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last seven days is 286 and the average number of arrests over the last seven days is 26. The number of calls for service on this day last year was 232, and the number of arrests was 37. Over the last three years, the average number of calls for service received on May 8 is 235, and the average number of arrests, 32.

Harassment/Resisting Arrest – Case 1707304

Police responded to the area regarding two teenage females who were harassed by a group of juvenile subjects. Arriving officers observed the described subjects in the area of W. 10th Avenue, just east of Olive Street, and contacted a 16-year-old female juvenile who was charged with two counts of Physical Harassment and Resisting Arrest. During the arrest, the group of subjects surrounding the officers became hostile and a bystander intervened. Police transported the juvenile subject to SERBU and returned to the location after receiving information that the 52-year-old bystander had been assaulted (Case 1707303). The victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Felon In Possession of Restricted Weapon/Possession of Heroin/Warrant – Case 1707300

Police responded to a vacant lot regarding suspicious conditions and contacted a male subject who was in the area. During contact with the subject, David Michael Payne, age 57, of Eugene, police found that he had two warrants for arrest and was in possession of illegal drugs and a firearm. He was transported to the Lane County Jail on the warrants and for Possession of Heroin, Possession of Methamphetamine and Felon In Possession of a Firearm.

Failure to Register Sex Offender/Warrant – Case 1707289

Police responded to Sinner’s Butte Park near N. Washington Street regarding a dispute and contacted Brian Matthew Lott, age 43, of Eugene. During contact with Lott, police found information to arrest him for Failure to Register Sex Offender and a warrant. He was transported to the Lane County Jail.

Criminal Trespass 1/Possession of Methamphetamine – Case 1707266

Police responded to a residence at the location regarding multiple trespassers who were observed on the premises of an unoccupied residence. Police located the two subjects at the residence, Jason Michael Furgason, age 42, of Eugene, and Michaela Christine Pond, age 27, of Eugene. Police contacted both subjects and cited Furgason in lieu of custody for Criminal Trespass in the First Degree. Pond was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for Possession of Methamphetamine and Criminal Trespass in the First Degree.


On May 4, EPD responded to 297 calls for service and made 21 arrests. DUII/Reckless Driving – Case 1707067

Police responded to the area regarding a motorcycle crash and the arriving officer observed the blue 1996 Yamaha XV7 on its side in the middle of the road on Fenster Street. Police contacted the driver of the vehicle, Jonathan Cannoy, age 34, of Eugene, and after further investigation, found information to arrest him for DUII and Reckless Driving.

Interfering With Police Officer/Criminal Trespass 2/Warrant – Case 1707052

A police officer patrolling the area attempted to contact a female subject, Chloe Elizabeth Cantwell, age 25, of Eugene, who was recognized to have a warrant for arrest. When the officer exited the vehicle, Cantwell subsequently ran and continued to run after being given direction to stop. Police eventually located Cantwell, who was on the property of a residence without permission on the 2900 block of Crocker Road. She was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree, Interfering With Police Officer and a warrant.

DUII – Case 1707003

A police officer contacted the driver of a silver 2000 Mercedes Benz, Fidel Toribio Contreras-Sanchez, age 33, of Half Moon Bay California, after the vehicle was observed traveling south through a red light at the intersection of W. 2nd Avenue and Chambers Street. After further investigation, Contreras-Sanchez was arrested for DUII and cited for Failure To Obey Traffic Control Device.

Reckless Endangering/DUII – Case 1706991

A police officer patrolling the area observed a green 2001 Volvo weaving within its lane and changing lanes without signaling. The officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and contacted the driver, Denice Francine Delbozque, age 24, of Eugene. After further investigation, she was arrested for DUII and Reckless Endangering. She was also cited for Driving While Suspended, Unsignaled Lane Change, and Driving Uninsured.


05/03/17 21:57, OLIVE ST/W BROADWAY

Disorderly Conduct – Case 1706985

A police officer responded to a dispute at the location and received information of a male subject who had been approaching people in the area, yelling and behaving aggressively. Police contacted the subject, James Walter Everett, age 46, of Eugene, and were able to get him to leave the area. Minutes later, police were flagged down regarding Everett’s behavior and received information that he was approaching people and trying to get them to fight him. Police again contacted Everett and he continued to behave in a hostile manner with the officers. He was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for Disorderly Conduct.  


On May 3, EPD responded to 293 calls for service and made 15 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last seven days is 263 and the average number of arrests over the last seven days is 33. The number of calls for service on this day last year was 260, and the number of arrests was 16. Over the last three years, the average number of calls for service received on May 3 is 223, and the average number of arrests, 31. 


05/03/17 07:42, 300 GOODPASTURE ISLAND RD APT Illegal Burning – Case 1706952 An officer was sent to the bike bridge just east of Goodpasture Island Road after a complaint about an illegal fire. The officer got there and followed the smoke to a camp with an open fire. He contacted two men, and one of them, Donam Lehi Gunter, age 42, was cited for Prohibited Outdoor Burning. 


05/03/17 02:56, 3548 WILLOWBROOK ST/SANBORN AVE Unauthorized Use of Vehicle, Interfere with Police Officer - Case 1706948 An officer spotted a vehicle with a driver, later identified as Jacob Linus Evans, age 24. The officer noted the vehicle matched a stolen vehicle on his list. He followed it, but the car turned at Willowbrook Street and he found the car parked at a residence with no one inside. However, he did hear a noise coming from the backyard of the home. Officers and K-9 responded to search the area and K-9 Cjuk located Evans hiding in the backyard. The K9 officer called out for Evans to come out as the K-9 would be sent in if he didn’t. After there was no response, K9 Cjuk and his handler successfully took Evans into custody. He was charged with Unauthorized Use of Vehicle and Interfering with Police. 


05/03/17 13:20, 200 BLOCK OF E 13TH AVE Criminal Trespass 1 – Case 1706962 Police responded to the location regarding a disorderly subject who had jumped multiple fences near the Circle K and was observed in the middle of the roadway yelling at cars. When police arrived, officers observed the subject, Casey Christian Westell, age 25, climb an apartment building and enter a residence on the second floor of the location. Police contacted him inside the residence and arrested him for Criminal Trespass in the First Degree. 


05/02/17 21:51, 595 HWY 99N Possession of Methamphetamine – Case 1706942 An officer saw a Honda Civic jump the curb from Patty’s parking lot onto north bound Hwy. 99N. He stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver, Rina Yesenia Zaragoza, age 36, of Eugene, and found she was suspended for Delivery of Methamphetamine and currently on probation. After an investigation, she was found to be in possession of meth. She was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine. The officer also contacted the passenger, Daniel Alvarado Navarrete, age 24, of Eugene, and found that he had three warrants and was in possession of meth. He was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and taken into custody on the warrants. 


05/03/17 01:41, 1960 FRANKLIN BLVD Disorderly Conduct, Warrant – Case 1706947 An officer was sent to help CAHOOTS with a subject. When get got there, he found CAHOOTS was trying to get an intoxicated man to the hospital. The man, later identified as Steven Scott Sims, age 34, was walking in and out of traffic. He was also reported to have been hiding in the bushes and jumping out in front of women when they walked by, and trying to provoke a fight with security in the area. The officer contacted Sims at the 7-Eleven at 13th and Alder. Sims had a warrant for Theft 3 out of Sweethome. He was taken into custody and also charged with Disorderly Conduct. On May 2, EPD responded to 283 calls for service and made 23 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last seven days is 255 and the average number of arrests over the last seven days is 33. The number of calls for service on this day last year was 264, and the number of arrests was 16. Over the last three years, the average number of calls for service received on May 2 is 261, and the average number of arrests, 31. 


05/03/17 01:41, 1900 BLOCK OF FRANKLIN BLVD Disorderly Conduct/Warrant – Case 1706947 Police responded to the area of 13th Avenue and Alder regarding a male subject who was observed walking in and out of traffic and jumping out at people as they walked by. Police contacted the subject, Steven Scott Sims, age 34, of Eugene, and arrested him for Disorderly Conduct and a warrant. He was transported to the Lane County Jail. 


05/02/17 21:52, 2600 BLOCK OF ROOSEVELT BLVD Criminal Trespass 1 – Case 1706944 Police responded to the area regarding a trespasser who was contacted by Portland Western Railroad and refused to leave the property. Police contacted the subject, Ronald Twiles Guptill, age 55, who was in the area of the railroad tracks and cited him in lieu of custody for Criminal Trespass in the First Degree. 05/02/17 19:35, 1080 WILLAMETTE STREET Assault/Disorderly Conduct/Interfering With Police – Case 1706937 Police responded to the area regarding a male subject who was observed assaulting another male subject at the location. The officer contacted the subject, Marquel Duan Cary, age 19, of Eugene, and he refused to follow direction and ran east through West Broadway Alley toward Willamette Street. Officers eventually contacted the subject in the 900 block area of Willamette Street and arrested him for Disorderly Conduct, Assault and a Interfering With Police. He was transported to the Lane County Jail. The 17-year-old victim was evaluated for minor injuries at the scene. 


05/02/17 10:22, 2580 HILYARD ST Violation Park Rules – Case 1706901 An RV owner was reported parked at the Amazon Pool lot for several days and was reported to be cultivating marijuana in public view. An officer was dispatched to the location. He contacted the RV’s owner, William Watson Canfield, age 72. There was a marijuana plant in a pot on the RV’s hood. Canfield was cited for Violation of Park Rules and issued a 30-day park restriction. On May1, EPD responded to 257 calls for service and made 17 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last seven days is 259 and the average number of arrests over the last seven days is 36. The number of calls for service on this day last year was 272, and the number of arrests was 34. Over the last three years, the average number of calls for service received on May 1 is 252, and the average number of arrests, 40. 


05/01/17 03:10, 1060 JEFFERSON ST

DUII Crash – Case 1706825

A single vehicle crashed and was on its roof at the location. Medics checked both occupants, who were not injured. An officer was dispatched as well and when he got there, he suspected impairment on the part of the driver,  Kylie Nicole Treadwell, age 23, of Eugene. During the investigation, it was found that Treadwell had hit a parked vehicle on the west side of Jefferson Street, before crashing onto its top. Treadwill was charged with DUII.


05/01/17 05:37, 2 CLUB RD/DAY ISLAND RD

DUII – Case 1706821

An officer saw a Lexus in front of him going around a curve north onto Ferry Street Bridge then it crossed the divided line and sped onto the bridge. The officer stopped the vehicle and upon contacting the driver, Arvin Sanchez, age 28, of Eugene, he suspected impairment. After an investigation Sanchez was charged with DUII, and Failure to Drive in a Single Lane.


04/30/17 22:04, 100 W 8TH AVE/OLIVE ST

DUII – Case 1706818

An officer spotted a Kia Spectra approaching a stop sign and it slowed, then turned and ran up and over the curb. The driver failed to use a turn signal when turning. It drove into W. 8th Alley, behind the Horsehead Tavern. The officer stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver, Stacey Ray Aldrich, age 42, of Eugene. Aldrich appeared impaired and after an investigation Aldrich was charged with DUII, Driving Uninsured, Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device, Improper Right Turn, Un-signaled Left Turn, and Open Container in Vehicle.

Possession of Methamphetamine, Warrants – Case 1706864

An officer was sent to Golden Gardens Park to help an animal welfare officer with two wanted subjects. The officer identified the two as Stephanie Heather Grabb, age 38, of Eugene; and Mark Kevin Brown, age 50. During arrest, it was found Grabb was in possession of methamphetamine. Both were taken into custody on their warrants and Grabb was also charged with Possession of Methamphetamine.
