[ARCHIVED] Public Works Day is Fun For All

AltTextEugene Public Works will be swarming with smiles on May 18. Thousands of people will pack the Roosevelt Yard for Public Works Day.

The annual open house, which runs from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., is a chance for folks to climb big trucks, meet many of the people who work throughout the community, and learn about the variety of services that the Public Works Department provides. There will also be teams from other departments, like police and fire, at the open house as well.

More than two thousand people have already signed up to visit the Roosevelt Yard at 1820 Roosevelt Blvd, however no reservation is needed. The event is free to all.

Lane Transit District is offering a special shuttle from the Eugene Station to the Roosevelt Yard. The first trip will depart Willamette Street at 8:30 a.m. and will leave on the hour and half hour until the last departure at 2:30 p.m.

Buses will pick up riders at the same stop as the trip out, on the south side side of Roosevelt in front of Eugene Public Works. 

Both shuttles will display the words "Spec Shuttle" on the front of the bus.
