Over the last several years, the Building and Permit Services Division (BPS) has been working toward creating new and better ways to serve our customers and community – including modernizing systems and taking advantage of new technology, including eBuild our online permit and plan review system.
With this shift in the way we do our work, there was also a need to change some of the physical structures and spaces that support these critical services. In February, BPS began a remodel of the Permit and Information Center area located on the 1st floor of the Atrium Building. Improvements focused on creating a more welcoming and user-friendly customer service area and integrating updated technology, teams and tools for more effective and efficient service delivery.
Last week, the remodel was completed and an open house was held to celebrate and thank customers for their patience during construction. Participants were able to tour the new and improved customer service areas as well as the consolidated office spaces for permit staff. Highlights of the remodel include:
- Flexible customer counters with updated technology,
- Co-located teams to promote better communication and efficiency, and
- Dedicated space for express, over-the-counter permits and project consultations, two of our most popular services.
Our Permit and Information staff look forward to serving our community and customers in the updated space.
