[ARCHIVED] City Seeking Applications for Riverfront Renewal Guides

Interested in getting involved with Eugene’s riverfront redevelopment? The City is currently accepting applications to join the Riverfront Renewal Guides (River Guides). As an advisory committee for the Riverfront Urban Renewal District activities, the River Guides will have an important role in the riverfront development, providing a broad perspective and diverse insights on the transformation of the riverfront to create an active place for the entire community.

The Mayor and City Council, acting as the Urban Renewal Agency Board, will select a total of 7 members to represent the breadth of the community’s perspectives. People who live and work in the District or have an interest or expertise in development, finance, architecture, ecology, sustainability, and river conservation are encouraged to apply.

The deadline to apply for the River Guides is September 25, 2017. An online application is available at The Mayor will review and nominate applicants and the Agency Board will make appointments this fall.

Members are expected to have or develop a basic understanding of the projects and requirements in the Riverfront Urban Renewal Plan. In addition, River Guides members will be expected to meet as needed, review meeting materials, and provide input to advise the Agency Board on best outcomes for the community.

The City is committed to delivering a high-quality legacy project that connects downtown to the river, catalyzes economic growth, and reflects the community’s vision. The River Guides will play a key role in helping the City to realize this vision. One of the River Guides’ primary focuses within the District will be with the riverfront redevelopment, which could involve investments in infrastructure, roads, sidewalks, railroad access, housing, commercial activity, and the creation of a world class park.
