On August 24, 2017, at 12:32 am, Eugene Police officers and Eugene-Springfield Fire/EMS personnel were dispatched to W. 7th Avenue at Washington regarding a motor vehicle crash. Eugene Police officers arrived and attempted to render aid to an injured party in one of the vehicles. Fire/EMS staff arrived and pronounced the injured party deceased. The driver of the other vehicle left the scene of the crash and was located in the 300 block of W. 7th Alley a short time later. EMS transported that driver to an area hospital for care. Eugene Police Department's Major Collision Investigations team responded and assumed control of the investigation. Next kin has not been notified and the identity of both parties is being withheld pending further investigation.
