[ARCHIVED] New Deicer Storage Tank Delivered and Installed

Following one of the worst winters in recent memory, Public Works Maintenance has more than doubled its deicer storage capacity. A 10,000 gallon tank was delivered on Tuesday, and it was no easy feat. The 12’ wide and 20’ tall storage tank came on a lowboy trailer from the Lincoln, Nebraska. Staff then used a crane to set the tank into its new home next to the existing deicer storage tank.Deicer_Install

The new tank will prove invaluable during extended cold or icy conditions. Long stretches of extreme temperatures has tested the region’s supply of deicer as agencies across the northwest apply it to high traffic roads, bridges, overpasses, and traditional problem Deicer Tanks in placespots that are on their snow response routes. This additional tank provides an extra layer of security for those long stretches of icy conditions, which have tested the region twice in the past five years.
