[ARCHIVED] Downtown Lighting and Festivities Kick Off Holiday Season

The City of Eugene and Downtown Eugene Merchants will host the third annual Light Up Downtown to bring light to the darkest time of the year and join the community in peace and unity.

The free, festive and inclusive event features Mayor Lucy Vinis, the University of Oregon Duck, SLUG Queen Santa Frida Elisa Refugio Babosita, Mistress of Ceremonies Facisha Farce, the Eugene Concert Choir, Ridgeline Ukulele Extravaganza, the Sheldon High School Dublinaires, interfaith guests, hot cider, popcorn, small cocktails from Thinking Tree Distillery and more.

Attendees are also invited to bring new and unused socks, underwear, gloves, hats and sweatpants to benefit Egan Warming Center, supporting those that may be in need this holiday season.

The lights will remain a holiday attraction through January.

Festivities will continue in December during Fridays in the Park Blocks with outdoor heaters, fire pits, tented seating, beverages from Thinking Tree Distillery and a clothing drive for Egan Warming Center. Christmas trees and wreaths will be for sale, with all proceeds supporting Teen Challenge PNW. The schedule of Fridays in the Park Blocks events is as follows:
