On December 28, EPD responded to 221 calls for service and made 27 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last seven days is 208 and the average number of arrests over the last seven days is 20. The number of calls for service on this day last year was 265, and the number of arrests was 37. Over the last three years, the average number of calls for service received on December 28 is 210, and the average number of arrests, 22.

Felon In Possession Restricted Weapon/Possession Methamphetamine/Criminal Trespass 2/Warrant – Case 1721696

A police officer patrolling the area observed two male subjects near a No Trespassing sign at City Center Car Wash after hours. The officer contacted the subjects, Garen Daniel Theis, age 49, of Eugene, and Daniel Justin Cole, age 45, of Eugene, and found information to arrest Cole on a warrant. He was transported to the Lane County Jail. During contact with Theis, the officer found information to cite him in lieu of custody for Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree, Felon In Possession of a Restricted Weapon (knife) and Possession of Methamphetamine.

Robbery 1/Unlawful Entry Motor Vehicle/Possession Marijuana Greater Than 4x Amt/Theft 2 – Case 1721693

Police responded to an apartment at the location regarding a male subject who was observed unlawfully entering multiple vehicles at the location. The suspect subsequently pulled out a bladed object and approached the victims after being followed westbound onto the bike path. A bystander who was in the area came to the assistance of the victims and helped detain the suspect until police arrived. The suspect, Joshua Lee Korczak, age 33, of Florence, was contacted by police on the bike path near Hawaiian Times, and found in possession of electronic items that were taken from a vehicle. Police located the described bladed object  in the area and arrested Korczak for Possession of Marijuana 21 Older Greater Than 4x Amount, Robbery in the First Degree, two counts of Unlawful Entry of Motor Vehicle and Theft in the Second Degree. He was transported to the Lane County on the charges.

DUII Felony/Reckless Endangering/Hit and Run/Reckless Driving/Driving While Suspended – Case 1721697

Police responded to the area regarding a Hit and Run vehicle crash involving a possible DUII driver. Police located the described white 2003 Buick Park Avenue traveling west on Howard Avenue and conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle, and contacted the driver, Jonathan Allen House, age 55, of Eugene. After further investigation, House was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for DUII Felony, Reckless Driving, two counts of Reckless Endangering, Driving While Suspended and Hit and Run.

Burglary 1 – Case 1721678

Police responded to a residence at the location regarding a suspicious subject on the property and located the subject, Joseph Patrick Woods, age 27, of Eugene, who was found in possession of personal items that were taken from the residence. Following contact with Woods, he was arrested for Burglary in the First Degree and transported to the Lane County Jail.

Menacing/Felon In Possession Firearm – Case 1721658

Police responded to a menacing at Skinner’s Butte Park and received information that a male subject, Jesse James Andrew Handsaker, age 20, of Eugene, approached the car of the 22-year-old victim, known to him, banged on it while behaving in a hostile manner, and displayed a gun. Police located Handsaker in a white Jeep Cherokee at the park and contacted him regarding the incident. He was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for Possession of a Firearm and Menacing.


On December 27, EPD responded to 235 calls for service and made 33 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last seven days is 208 and the average number of arrests over the last seven days is 18. The number of calls for service on this day last year was 209, and the number of arrests was 15. Over the last three years, the average number of calls for service received on December 27 is 170, and the average number of arrests, 22.

Possession of Meth/DUII/Warrant – Case 1721642

A police officer traveling south on Highway 99 from Royal Avenue observed a 1987 Ford Aerostar pull into the turn lane and enter the crosswalk before stopping on a solid red arrow traffic signal. The officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and contacted the driver, Harry Charles Paesch, age 59, of Eugene, and observed an open container in the vehicle and found him in possession of an illegal substance. After further investigation, Paesch was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for Possession of Methamphetamine, DUII and a warrant. He was also cited for Open Container, Driving Uninsured and Driving While Suspended.

Burglary 1 – Case 1721604

Police responded to a burglary in progress and an unknown male who was observed on the second floor of the home. The suspect left the house southbound on foot through the fairgrounds and was located by police. Police contacted the described suspect, Mark Elliott Turner, age 35, of Eugene, and found damaged items, waste and discarded trash inside the home, and arrested Turner for Burglary in the First Degree. He was transported to the Lane County Jail.


On December 26, EPD responded to 217 calls for service and made 19 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last seven days is 207 and the average number of arrests over the last seven days is 17. The number of calls for service on this day last year was 208, and the number of arrests was 16. Over the last three years, the average number of calls for service received on December 26 is 192, and the average number of arrests, 18.

UUV/Elude Foot/Interfering Peace Officer/Warrants – Case 1721569

A police officer in the area of Roosevelt Boulevard near Garfield Street conducted a traffic stop of a blue 1993 Nissan Sentra regarding an expired registration. The vehicle yielded and came to a stop at West 5th Avenue and Chambers Street and the driver subsequently opened the door and ran westbound on West 5th Avenue. Police observed the subject, Michael Stuart Fancher, age 26, of Eugene, climb a fence north of Grant Street and continued to run northbound from the location and was eventually located and taken into custody with the assistance of a Springfield K9. During the investigation, police found that the vehicle had been stolen and arrested and transported Fancher to the Lane County Jail for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Elude by Foot, Interfering With A Peace Officer, and two warrants.

Assault – Case 1721566

Police responded to the Silver Dollar Club in Eugene regarding a female subject who was being escorted from the location by an employee and subsequently became hostile and hit the 39-year-old male victim in the face. The subject, Melody May Handsaker, age 30, of Eugene, left the location and was contacted by police a short time later at the LTD Station and was cited in lieu of custody for Assault.

Menacing/Disorderly Conduct – Case 1721541

Police received information of a dispute on the roadway that started in Springfield and contacted the involved subjects at the Eugene Police Department. During the investigation, police received information that two male victims traveling toward Eugene in a maroon 2009 Hyundai Sonata were followed closely by a black SUV before coming to a stop at the Coburg Road off ramp traffic signal. The driver of the SUV, Michael Wesley Wenick, age 32, of Tillamook, subsequently exited his vehicle and displayed hostile behavior toward the victims. The vehicles left the location and again met a short distance away after the 20-year-old victim had exited his vehicle at his intended destination. Police received information that Wenick attempted to hit the victim before leaving the location. He was cited in lieu of custody for two counts of Menacing, Physical Harassment and Disorderly Conduct.


On December 25, EPD responded to 184 calls for service and made 4 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last seven days is 217 and the average number of arrests over the last seven days is 18. The number of calls for service on this day last year was 179, and the number of arrests was 20. Unauthorized Use of Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Vehicle, Reckless Driving – Case 1721520

On December 26, at 2:57 a.m., an officer spotted a stolen vehicle in the parking lot of 7-Eleven at 6th and Blair. The vehicle left and ended up making a sudden right turn into the Duck Inn at 1795 W 6th Avenue. The officer performed a traffic stop, holding the driver, Aaron Allen Harney, age 28, until other officers arrived. Harney was taken into custody without incident on charges of Unauthorized Use of Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Vehicle, Reckless Driving and lodged at Lane County Jail.

Disorderly Conduct, Possible Menacing – Case 17-21515 

A caller reported a reckless and possibly intoxicated driver in a white Chrysler 200. The driver was reported to be was operating the vehicle so erratically that other drivers were trying to get the vehicle to stop. The driver of the involved vehicle was then reported to have pointed a handgun out of the window at the vehicles that were trying to get him to stop. The caller was not menaced and the victims of the menacing never called to report the incident.

Harassment, Criminal Trespass – Case 1721506

A female employee at Safeway reported she was pushed to the ground by a disorderly man later identified as Rodney Rodell Henry, age 43. When officers arrived, Henry had already left, but another employee had followed him and last saw Henry walking northbound on Willamette. Officers responded and found Henry at the corner of Willamette and 13th. After an investigation, Henry was charged with Harassment and Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree.

Harassment – Case 1721498

Officers were sent to Sizzle Pie for a disorderly person, later identified as Aleksander Curtis Smith, age 38. Smith was reported to have been trespassing and when told to leave by a 23-year-old male employee, he initially refused. The employee escorted him to the edge of the property and then Smith is reported to have tried to push past the victim to get back in. The employee stood in the way and Smith shoved and chest bumped him to get past and is reported to have punched the victim. The employee punched Smith and then got him on the ground, where he held Smith until police arrived. After an investigation, Smith was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Physical Harassment.

DUII – Case 1721496

Officers were sent to the intersection of Beltline and River Road, at the westbound Beltline off ramp. A man, Bradley Thomas Wiens, age 31, of Springfield, had rear-ended another truck near the intersection. The officer suspected impairment and after an investigation, charged Wiens with Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants.

Warrants – Case 1721494 

Officers were called to E. 15th and Willamette after a Toyota Corolla and bicycle collided. The vehicle remained on the scene. The bicyclist, Charles Stephen Kyvelos, age 31,was taken to a local hospital with apparent non life-threatening injuries. The motorist, a 58-year-old Eugene woman, had been going southbound on Willamette and did not see Kyvelos emerge from her right suddenly and step into the crosswalk. It was rainy, dark and windy at the time. Kyvelos was not wearing a helmet and did not have the required lighting on the bike. After Kyvelos was treated at the hospital, he was arrested on warrants (Unlawful Possession of Heroin, Parole Violation).

Carry Concealed Weapon, Disorderly Conduct – Case 1721493

A woman, later identified as Sarah Fallingwater, age 41, was reported to have been standing on Safeway property yelling at elderly customers, throwing items at people, taking carts from other customers, and chasing one younger woman away. She was told to leave by employees. Once she left the property, she was reported to have been standing in the roadway for a while. Another caller reported almost hitting Fallingwater, who was in the middle of the E. 18th and Oak intersection, and who was hitting passing vehicles with her jacket. Officers located Fallingwater and took her into custody without incident. During a search, she was found to have a throwing star and a bullet. She was charged with Disorderly Conduct and Carry Concealed Weapon.

Robbery 3 – Case 1721492

Officers were sent to Hiron’s after a report that a shoplifter was fighting with loss prevention. The theft suspect, Michael Lee Grabow, age 36, of Eugene, was reported to be resisting loss prevention’s attempted to place him in handcuffs. Officers arrived and placed Grabow in handcuffs. He was charged with Robbery in the Third Degree.

Possession of Methamphetamine, Interfere with Police Officer, Warrant – Case 1721487

A man was reported to be stealing items from St. Vincent DePaul store and was last reported walking west across Seneca Road toward Home Depot. An officer spotted the man, later identified as Brent Michael Eaves, age 26, of Eugene. The officer contacted Eaves, who began to run southbound on Seneca while the officer ordered him to stop repeatedly. He finally stopped and faced the officer, who used the display of a taser to take him into custody. He was in possession of meth and had warrants for Interfering with Police and Possession of Controlled Substance Methamphetamine. He was taken to jail on the warrants, Interfering and Possession of Controlled Substance Methamphetamine.

12/24/17 00:04, 3199 CHAMBERS ST/MCLEAN BLVD

DUII, Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangering – Case 1721473

Officer responded to the intersection after a tow truck driver called to report the vehicle’s driver appeared intoxicated and had crashed, popping two tires. The Honda Insight was facing westbound on McLean Blvd. atop the sidewalk. The driver was not at the scene. However a short time later, a Ford Fusion pulled up in front of the Insight and the suspected driver, Tyler Porter Whitmire, age 40, of Eugene, got out. After an investigation, officers determined that Whitmire had been driving and had a female adult passenger and two six year-old children in the car. Police responded to their house and found that they were not injured in the crash. Whitmire was charged with DUII, Reckless Driving and Reckless Endangering.

Disorderly Conduct/Interfering With Police Officer – Case 1721467

Police responded to the area regarding a disorderly subject who had pounded on the door of a residence and attempted to gain access to the garage before walking away. Police received multiple calls from people alarmed by the subject’s behavior and located the described subject, Richard John Cain, age 47, of Eugene, and contacted him near the intersection of Nebraska and Marcum Lane. During contact with police, the subject continued to disregard directions from the officer and walked toward the officer in an aggressive manner. He was taken into custody with the use of a taser, arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for Disorderly Conduct and Interfering With Police Officer.

12/21/17 03:40, WILLAKENZIE RD/MANCHESTER DR

DUII - Case 1721312

A 2007 Chevrolet Colorado had crashed into a tree and police were called. Two occupants were reported to be trying to start the vehicle, which had had the airbags deployed. Callers noted two females had gotten out and were walking around, and did not appear injured. Officers arrived and suspected impairment on the part of the driver, age 16. After an investigation, the driver was charged with DUII and released to her parents.

Reckless Endangering, DUII, Reckless Driving – 1721311

Officers spotted a scooter turning southbound onto Hilyard Street, against traffic. They stopped the scooter and contacted the rider, Natalie Spring Fernbaugh, age 21, of Eugene. Fernbaugh also had a passenger on the back and neither were wearing helmets. Fernbaugh also did not have a motorcycle endorsement. During the contact, the officer suspected impairment. After an investigation, Fernbaugh was charged with Reckless Endangerment, DUII, and Reckless Driving.

12/21/17 00:43, 1299 W 3RD AVE/POLK ST

Possession of Meth Prior Felony Conviction, DUII, Warrant, Careless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane – 1721309

Officers stopped a vehicle for traffic violations, including failure to maintain lane. Three hours earlier, they had been looking for the same vehicle after calls about a possible DUII driver. Upon contacting the driver, Dennis David Allen, age 50, of Junction City, the officer suspected impairment. After an investigation, he was charged with DUII and Allen was found to have a warrant for his arrest and was in possession of methamphetamines.

Interfere with Police Officer, Fugitive from Justice – Case 1721308

Officers were dispatched regarding a dispute in the area. Call details indicated several males were yelling for about 15 minutes, and one caller said they heard one of the men yell about a gun, and was yelling for help. As the officers got there, they could see silhouettes of individuals, and one individual gesturing at the others. An officer attempted to stop the latter and the man walked away and wouldn’t stop. The officer got out of his patrol vehicle and tried to stop the man, but he kept walking. The man sat down for a brief time, then stood up and continued to refuse commands. Instead the suspect turned around and focused on a second officer while refusing commands. Pepper spray was used to take him into custody. He refused to provide his name, so he was lodged as a “John Doe,” at the Lane County Jail. He was later identified as Jonathan Willis Roe, Jr., age 40, of Eugene, who was a fugitive from justice from Wisconsin (felony child support) and had a Eugene municipal court warrant.

Theft 2 Shoplift, Driving While Suspended – Cases 1719700, 1721302

On November 21, a man had pushed a shopping cart full of items out of the store without paying. The manager went to confront the suspect, but the suspect drove off in a jeep. The responding officer distributed a photo of the suspect to EPD patrol. On December 20 at 10:35, an officer stopped a driver in the jeep as it had a headlight out, and then learned the vehicle had been involved in the theft. The driver, Aaron Michael Haslett, age 24, of Florence, was suspended (DUII), and he matched the suspect description. After further investigation, Haslett was charged with Theft 2 and Driving While Suspended.

11/15/17 21:00, 1800 BLOCK EMERALD ST

Theft 2, Identity Theft – Case 1719416

A 28-year-old Eugene man and his wife attended mass and church activities. The man left his rain jacket on the railing outside the front doors to dry. It contained his wallet, phone and keys. After they were done with their night there, the man went to retrieve his jacket and found it had been stolen. He checked his financial transactions and saw fraudulent charges and reported the theft to police. A property crimes detective followed up and developed leads on a suspect, Gentry Albert Johnson, age 45. He put out an attempt to locate for Johnson, who was contacted by an officer in the 1500 block of Patterson on December 20 at 9:48 p.m. The officer had been patrolling the area near the UO to help prevent holiday season burglaries and thefts from vehicles. He found that Johnson had the attempts to locate and was in possession of methamphetamine. He was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine and charged on December 21 at 12:05 a.m. with Theft 2 and eight counts of ID Theft.

Hit and Run, Reckless Driving – Case 1721294

The 21-year-old owner of a 2003 Subaru Forester reported his vehicle was hit while parked. He found there was damage to the rear driver side tail light and the rear driver side axle looked snapped off. There was a blue Nissan Altima parked opposite the Forester and it had damage to the front passenger side. The officer developed information that the driver was Sean David Floyd, age 28, of Springfield. He charged Floyd with Hit and Run, Reckless Driving, and Driving Uninsured.

Criminal Trespass 1 – Case 1721251

An officer was sent to a residence regarding a possible burglary in progress. The 47-year-old female resident had been watching TV when she heard a noise from the living room. She found the front door open and shut it. She called a neighbor to come over and when they arrived they checked the house. The neighbor pulled on the door to the bathroom and felt someone on the other side pull it shut. They both left the house and ran to the neighbor’s home. Officers arrived and found the suspect, Craig David Saddler, age 43, hiding in a tree house in the adjoining neighbor’s yard. He was taken into custody without incident and charged with Criminal Trespass 1. He also had two municipal court warrants.

Burglary 1 – Case 1719973

An officer was sent to The Oaks at 14th after someone broke through a window to the community center and stole a TV and sound system speaker bar. The officer worked the case and developed a lead on a suspect, Christopher Salvador Menjivar, age 31. An attempt to locate was put out and the officer was notified Menjivar was at the Lane County Jail for Interfering with Police and warrants. She responded to the jail on December 20 at 7 a.m., and charged Menjivar with Burglary 1.


On December 17, EPD responded to 196 calls for service and made 12 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last seven days is 234 and the average number of arrests over the last seven days is 20. The number of calls for service on this day last year was 232, and the number of arrests was 23. Over the last three years, the average number of calls for service received on December 17 is 295, and the average number of arrests, 26.

 

Last week (Sunday, December 10 – Saturday December 16) EPD responded to 1,640 calls for service and made 140 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last four weeks is 1,715 with 152 arrests. The number of calls for service during the same week last year was 1,744 with 146 arrests. Over the last three years, the average number of calls for service for this period was 1,594 and there were 168 arrests.

Disorderly Conduct/Criminal Trespass 2 – Case 1721098

Police responded to Steelhead Brewery regarding a disorderly trespasser who was escorted from the location by employees after he was told several times to leave, refused, and his behavior became increasingly aggressive. Police subsequently responded to information of a disorderly subject at Cornicopia, 207 East 5th Avenue, who matched the description of the initial subject, and contacted Moises Angel Larreinaga, age 29, of University Place Washington, and received information that he had also been trespassed from the Jackalope Tavern, 453 Willamette Street. He was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail on three counts of Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree and Disorderly Conduct.

DUII/Reckless Driving – Case 1721059

Police responded to the area regarding a possible DUII driver in a white 2003 Mazda pickup truck with a canopy swerving and creating a hazard for other drivers. Police contacted the driver, Steven Allen Menteer, age 55, of Springfield, at the Denny’s restaurant on Glenwood Drive. After further investigation, he was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for DUII and Reckless Driving.

DUII/Reckless Driving – Case 1721056

A police officer patrolling the area observed a blue Volvo traveling swerving and traveling at a high rate of speed. The officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and contacted the driver, Jennifer Jayne Gunther, age 25, of Lorane. After further investigation, she was arrested for DUII and Reckless Driving. She was also cited for Failure to Drive Within Lane.

Deliver Cocaine/DUII/False Info To Police Officer/Warrant – Case 1721054

A police officer observed a silver 2002 Subaru Impreza traveling eastbound on E. 13th Avenue with a dysfunctional brake light. The officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and contacted the driver, Danny Steven Delgado, age 25, of Eugene, and found information to arrest and transport him to the Lane County Jail for Possession Controlled Substance Cocaine, Delivery Controlled Substance Cocaine, DUII, Driving While Suspended-Misdemeanor, False Information To Police and a warrant.

DUII/Reckless Driving – Case 1721055

A police officer patrolling the area observed a white Ford Mustang swerving as it traveled eastbound on W. 11th Avenue, and conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle after it was observed making improper lane changes. The officer contacted the driver of the vehicle, Omar Cruz Garcia, age 29, of Eugene, and after further investigation, he was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for DUII and Reckless Driving. He was also cited for Unlawful/Unsignaled Turn and Operating Vehicle With No Driver’s License.

Animal Abuse 1 Aggravated – Case 1720952

On December 14, police were called at 5:42 a.m. after a 23-year-old woman reported her boyfriend Daran Lynn Malnar, age 23, of Eugene, had killed her dog, a Chihuahua mix named Sneekers, and had put him in a dumpster behind her residence in the 1100 block of Darlene Lane. Police and Animal Services responded and located the deceased dog in the dumpster and began an investigation, developing probable cause to arrest Malnar. Malnar turned himself in at Eugene Police Headquarters, 300 Country Club Road, on December 16 at 10:15 p.m. and has been charged with Aggravated Animal Abuse, Aggravated Animal Abuse in the First Degree and Tampering with Evidence.


On December 14, EPD responded to 227 calls for service and made 40 arrests. The average number of calls for service over the last seven days is 226 and the average number of arrests over the last seven days is 20. The number of calls for service on this day last year was 502, and the number of arrests was 15. Over the last three years, the average number of calls for service received on December 14 is 295, and the average number of arrests, 20.

Unlawful Entry Motor Vehicle/Possession Methamphetamine/Possession Heroin/Theft 3 (From Vehicle)/Criminal Trespass 2 – Case 1721011

Police officers patrolling the West University area contacted a male subject who was observed unlawfully entering a motor vehicle and found with a backpack from the vehicle. After further investigation, the subject, Gabriel Bessey, age 37, of Eugene, was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for Unlawful Entry into a Motor Vehicle, Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree, Theft in the Third Degree, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Heroin.

DUII/Reckless Driving – Case 1721012

An officer patrolling eastbound on River Road observed a white Chevy van pass him at a high rate of speed and subsequently make an abrupt lane change. The officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and contacted the driver, Eric Jon Huffman, age 27, of Monroe. After further investigation, Monroe was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for DUII and Reckless Driving.

Criminal Mischief 2/Criminal Trespass 2 – Case 1721007

Police responded to the area regarding a disorderly female subject who broke a window at the Red Cross building on the 800 block of Bethel Drive and entered the location. Police contacted the subject, Erin Marie Kossol, age 28, and transported her to the Lane County Jail for Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree and Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree.

DUII/Reckless Driving – Case 1720996

Police responded to the McDonald’s restaurant regarding a possible DUII driver in a black 2001 Isuzu Trooper that was observed making unsteady movements at the location. The police officer observed the vehicle come to a stop in front of the patrol vehicle in the southwest of the parking lot and contacted the driver, Jessa Minnette Lee Crocker, age 32, of Eugene. After further investigation, Crocker was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for DUII and Reckless Driving. She was also cited for Open Container.

Criminal Mischief – Case 1701476

EPD responded to information from Springfield Police of a Criminal Mischief suspect, Brent William Roberts, age 26, of Eugene, who was in the area of Roaring Rapids Pizza. Early this year on January 13, police received information of a disorderly subject at the 7-Eleven on W. 6th Avenue who yelled obscenities at an employee after having dropped a beverage item that spilled onto the floor. The subject continued to behave disorderly as he exited the store, kicking the glass door, causing it to break. Following contact with Roberts on December 13, he was arrested for Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree and transported to the Lane County Jail.

DUII/Reckless Driving – Case 1720937

Police responded to the area regarding a possible DUII driver and received information that a disorderly male subject in a white 2002 Chevy Impala had left the parking lot at a high rate of speed. Police observed the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and conducted a traffic stop in the area of River Road and Silver Lane, and contacted the driver, Justin Andrew Tena, age 26, of Junction City. After further investigation, Tena was arrested for DUII and transported to the Lane County Jail. He was also cited for Careless Driving.


12/05/17 03:11, E 8TH AVE/E BROADWAY

DUII – Case 1720419

Police and Fire responded to a single vehicle rollover crash at E. 8th Avenue and Mill Street and observed a black 1992 Toyota Camry, resting on its passenger side, partially covering the sidewalk. Police contacted the driver of the vehicle, Daniel Paulfrank Griffin, age 24, and received information that the vehicle was observed traveling southbound on the Ferry Street Bridge when the driver lost control, slid into the center median and rolled onto its side. The vehicle subsequently broke a City of Eugene street sign and caused minor damage to a utility box during the crash. No significant injuries were found to Griffin or the passenger and after further investigation, police arrested Griffin for Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangering, Criminal Mischief and a warrant. He was transported to the Lane County Jail on the charges.

Possession of Methamphetamine/DUII – Case 1720413

A police officer patrolling the area observed a maroon 1990 Ford Tempo with a taillight that appeared to be broken and was projecting a white light. The officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and contacted the driver, Jennifer Neely Higgins, age 40, of Eugene, and found that she was in possession of methamphetamines. After further investigation, Higgins was arrested and transported to the Lane County Jail for DUII and Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine. She was also cited for Driving While Suspended, Driving Uninsured, and White Light to the Rear of Vehicle.
