[ARCHIVED] Man Quickly Arrested After Robbery at 7-Eleven

On January 29 at 7:47 p.m., a man entered 7-Eleven at 590 E. Broadway and asked for a brand of cigarettes. He didn’t have the means to pay and refused to give the cigarettes back. The clerk pulled the cigarettes out of his hand, and the man, later identified as Keith Joseph Randel, age 28, of Eugene, took a candy bar and ate it.

The clerk came around the counter to escort Randel from the store and when she walked to the front of the counter, Randel jumped on the counter and grabbed the cigarettes. The two struggled on the ground and eventually the clerk was able to shove Randel out the front door. A very quick response by Eugene Police Patrol had Randel in custody within a half hour of the robbery. Eugene Police Forensic Evidence Unit responded to the scene to gather evidence.

Randel was arrested for Robbery in the Third Degree. Case 1801728
