The City of Eugene is delighted to bring back the Mayor’s Art Show, July 27-Aug. 25, 2018 in the Maurie Jacobs Community Room at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts. Established, emerging, and student artists who live or work in Eugene are encouraged to apply. The deadline for applications is June 17.
The Mayor’s Art Show will be part of a larger celebration of contemporary visual art, artists and the City’s public spaces. It aims to cultivate diversity, equity and access to the visual arts and artists. We envision a city of citizens whose success, safety and health are not pre-determined by their race, class, sexual orientation, gender, age, mental or physical ability.
A panel of artists and art professionals will review all applications for the juried show. Artists will be notified by the end of June. Awards will be given based on the consideration of conceptual strength, artistic merit, innovation, craftsmanship and materials.
In the spirit of celebrating the visual arts and artists, those who are not selected by the jury for the Mayor’s Art Show have the opportunity to participate in the Salon des Refusés. More information will be provided after the jurying process.
