Eugene Public Library greatly appreciates the hundreds of community members who contribute year-round to support library services for all! Last year, volunteers contributed nearly 12,000 hours of time, energy, and talent. Plus thousands of additional hours were contributed by volunteers for our non-profit fundraising partners the Friends of Eugene Public Library and the Eugene Public Library Foundation.
Library volunteers range from teens to seniors and help with activities behind the scenes as well as with the public. You’re invited to join the team! To learn more or to apply, click here.
Current openings include these opportunities to bring Library services out into the community:
Storytime-To-Go
Make a difference in the lives of young children by presenting a 20-minute storytime each week. Volunteers are trained to lead an engaging storytime at a local daycare to help build children’s literacy and love of reading. Time commitment: 3 hours weekly, including travel and preparation – and the impact on the children will last a lifetime. Want to see it in action? Watch this short video.
Outreach Team
The Library is dedicated to educating our community about all the amazing services available to them through their Library. A team of staff and volunteers go out into the community to bring this information in a variety of settings through hands on activities and interacting with the public about Library services. Members of the Outreach Team help setup booths, assist patrons with activities, answer questions, and generally represent the Library to the community. Time commitment: 6 hours monthly.
