Timothy James Chapek, age 31, of Portland, Oregon, had been arrested on Friday, June 2, 2017, by Portland Police for robbing a US Bank in downtown Portland. Eugene Police detectives responded to the Multnomah County Jail and investigated Chapek, and charged him on June 7, 2017, in Portland. This morning, April 19, 2018, Chapek pled guilty to this robbery. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was also, coincidentally, on federal probation for bank robbery at the time of this crime. Eugene Police is responding to a robbery reported at 3:32 p.m. today, May 11, 2017, at US Bank inside Albertson’s, 1675 W. 18th Avenue. The male suspect entered the bank and robbed the bank of cash with a note. He exited the bank on foot toward Chambers Street. Lane County Sheriff’s Office K-9 also responded to assist.
The suspect is described as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s, approximately 5’10” to 6’1” tall, weighing 195 pounds, with brown facial hair and last seen wearing a black baseball cap, and possibly a green hoody, blue jeans and black shoes.
