City Manager Jon Ruiz has named Kristie Hammitt as the Assistant City Manager and Sarah Medary as Public Works Director. Hammitt and Medary have served in their respective positions since last September.

Hammitt has 33 years of experience with the City of Eugene. She began her career in the Crime Analysis Unit at the Eugene Police Department. Hammitt also worked in Finance and Municipal Court before becoming the Central Services Director in 2009.

“Kristie’s background provides her with an excellent foundation to serve as Assistant City Manager,” noted Ruiz. “She has a broad range of experience, is known for her authentic and inclusive leadership style, and is deeply committed to serving the needs of the organization and community.”

Medary has 22 years of experience with the City of Eugene. She started her career with the City in public works, working 12 years in the Parks and Engineering divisions. Medary has also served as the Recreation Division Manager, Executive Director of Planning and Development and Assistant City Manager.

“Sarah’s hard work, partnership, creativity and willingness to work through tough issues make her a great fit for Public Works,” said Ruiz. “I am excited that she will continue to serve in the role in which she has demonstrated excellence over the past eight months.”
