[ARCHIVED] Police looking to identify victim following assault


On April 26, 2018, Christopher Lee Nelson was indicted by a Lane County Grand Jury for the Murder of Christopher Stanghellini on October 18. Nelson was later lodged on the Grand Jury Indictment and has since been arraigned. Prior to the arrest for murder, police contacted Nelson on October 20 and charged him with an assault that happened at the Eugene Mission (Case 17-17720).

During the investigation, police received information of an additional assault involving Nelson as the suspect, which happened on October 16 that occurred at the 7-Eleven, 951 West 6th Avenue, however, investigators have not been able to identify the victim and have attained images of him that were taken inside the 7-Eleven prior to the assault. 


Police have exhausted all leads in the case, and are asking the public for help identifying the victim. If you have information regarding the identity of the victim, please contact police at 541.682.5111 and reference case 17-17616
