[ARCHIVED] Eugene Sunday Streets and EUG Parade Return Sunday!

On Sunday, July 29, downtown Eugene will be transformed as thousands of people flood the streets to bike, walk, roll and play! It’s all part of the 8th annual Eugene Sunday Streets, designed to get people outdoors and active, with a focus on safety.

The EUG Parade kicks off the fun at 10 a.m. at Monroe Park. Get your seat early on Broadway, or at the Park Blocks, and watch more than 40 community groups, businesses, bands and more strut their stuff through downtown. You will see robots, horses, drummers, bagpipers, and of course slug queens out in style!

Eugene Sunday Streets follows the parade with activity centers at Monroe Park, Kesey Square and the Park Blocks. Each activity center is filled with live music, games, food carts, bike tune-ups, artisans, and yoga classes! New this year: two additional live music stages with activities along the event route including the KWVA stage on Lincoln featuring live DJs. The Big Wheel Rally is also happening on Lincoln and Broadway. The Eugene Symphony will be conducted by YOU at Jefferson and Broadway. A special GRRRZ Rock, KIDZ Rock stage will feature women and youth artists on Lawrence and Broadway. With temperatures forecasted to be in the 90s, you can cool off in the Kesey Square dunk tank or slide down the massive slip ‘n’ slide at Monroe Park. All are FREE and open to community members.

There will be traffic closures surrounding Broadway from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but cars will be let through at Washington, Jefferson and Pearl streets. Volunteers will be at intersections assisting drivers as well as encouraging people on the route to ride safely and have fun. People driving through downtown are encouraged to give themselves extra time to deal with detours and short delays.
