[ARCHIVED] Traffic Advisory: Construction starts August 15 on W. Amazon Drive

The project to improve and rebuild parts of West Amazon Drive starts on Wednesday, August 15. Work will focus on the section of West Amazon between Hilyard Street and Fox Hollow Road. Construction crews will rebuild the road, sidewalk access ramps, and restripe the road to include a one-way buffered bike lane northbound.

“This section of road has severe cracking due to age and poor conditions underneath the road,” said Josh Pinkham, Project Manager. “This project will make the road and area safer for people driving, biking and walking. The changes will last for years to come.”

Over the course of the next several months, drivers should expect street and lane closures, lane shifts, and possible one-way traffic. Heavy equipment and workers will be in the roadway, so people are asked to slow down in the construction zones.

The project’s construction is estimated to cost $1.2 Million. Most of the funding comes from the 2012 voter approved road bond measure. The work is expected to be complete by the end of October.
