[ARCHIVED] Suspect Arrested For Murder And Unlawful Use Of A Weapon

On October 5, 2018, Eugene Police Department detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit arrested Thomas William Copeland, age 30, for the murder of Frank Joe Ledgett. Age 69. Copeland was arrested at approximately 5:30 p.m. in Harrisburg with assistance from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office and US Marshalls. Copeland is charged with Murder and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

A female subject was also detained as part of the investigation at the time of Copeland’s arrest and later released. There are no outstanding suspects in this case.

Eugene Police would like to thank the Springfield Police Department, Lane County Sheriff’s Office, Linn County Sheriff’s Office, and US Marshalls Service for their help with this investigation.

Shots Fired

Case No. 18-16133

Eugene Police Department Patrol received a report of shots fired at 2750 Roosevelt Blvd in Eugene. The call was received at 12:06 a.m. on October 5, 2018. Officers responded and located a deceased victim at the scene.

Detectives from the Eugene Police Violent Crimes Unit and Forensic Evidence Unit are actively investigating the incident. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Detective Chris Mackey at 541-682-5175.
