[ARCHIVED] I-105 Construction Area – Traffic Safety Operation

As a result of construction and lane closures on I-105, there has been an increase in traffic from the Coburg Road exit to West 6th Avenue. Police have received numerous complaints and contacted several people regarding unsafe driving behavior in the area.

The traffic enforcement unit will conduct a safety enforcement effort on this section of I-105 throughout the week with a focus on dangerous driving behavior, including illegal lane changes in addition to the standard traffic violations that contribute to a high frequency of crashes.

We would like to remind the public to give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination when traveling through this area and expect a delay in the normal flow of traffic. Please be patient and considerate of other drivers and always practice safety while on the roadway.

This traffic safety message and operation supports City of Eugene Vision Zero goal. Vision Zero is an approach to transportation safety that aims to eliminate deaths and life-changing injuries caused by traffic crashes.
