As part of the ongoing neighborhood planning process in River Road and Santa Clara, Lane Transit District and the City of Eugene are kicking off an in-depth analysis of the River Road Corridor beginning with a 3-day workshop on February 11. The River Road Corridor Study will help implement the neighborhood vision by developing physical plans, financial strategies, and ways to improve transportation connections to better serve people in the area.
Open Houses
The first workshop for the River Road Corridor study will take place from February 11-13 in the Emergency Services Training Center at 1705 West 2nd Avenue, Eugene. The workshop schedule includes the following open houses:
- Monday, February 11, 6:30-8 p.m.
Getting Started: Reflecting the neighborhood vision and priorities - Tuesday, February 12, 4-6 p.m.
Developing Concepts: Exploring the multiple ways the vision can take shape on the ground along the corridor - Wednesday, February 13, 6:30-8 p.m. (short presentation at 7 p.m.)
Establishing Criteria: Evaluating options and establishing criteria
The open houses are a chance for the public to drop in, review and comment on the work of our design team. In addition to the public open houses, the design team will hold stakeholder interviews and a roundtable for local businesses. Commercial property and business owners are invited to attend the roundtable on Monday, February 11 from 12-1 p.m., also at the Emergency Services Training Center.
The River Road Corridor Study is funded by a $450,000 Federal Transit Authority grant, the largest grant of this type that the City of Eugene has ever received. It represents a chance to implement the vision for River Road that has emerged through the neighborhood planning process, which includes thriving, vibrant and active neighborhood centers along River Road.
