The Franklin Blvd Transformation project held a very successful Open House on May 29th. Over ninety members of the community came to the Romania Building on May 29th to see and comment on the most current design concepts for the project!
The Open House consisted of five stations that guests were encouraged to explore, beginning with a Welcome Station describing the purpose and goals of the project, as well as a summary of work done to date. Next were the stations for the Gateway, Bikeway, and Roadway Options. These stations contained information boards that described and visually depicted the options available for each element of the project. Attendees were encouraged to vote for the options they liked best.
The final station was the Intersection Options Station, consisting of three large aerial maps of the Franklin Blvd corridor. Each map showed a different intersection option –all roundabouts, all signalized, or a combination of the two. Here guests were provided with post-it notes and were encouraged to write their suggestions, comments, concerns, likes, and dislikes.
An online open house option will be available on June 5th at www.eugene-or.gov/Franklin. There you will be able to look at and weigh in on the different design options being considered.
