[ARCHIVED] Eugene Approves Funds to Homes for Good

Eugene City Council in January 2019 approved funding for Homes for Good’s proposed permanent supportive housing development, The Commons on MLK. This new development supports the City’s goal to increase the supply of affordable housing, a strategy established by the City through the 2015 Eugene-Springfield Consolidated Plan

City of Eugene funding includes $150,000 in Low-Income Housing Funds and a $280,000 Systems Development Charge (SDC) waiver. City Council also approved the use of $750,000 in federal HOME funds for the project, which were then awarded by the Eugene-Springfield HOME Consortium Governing Board on January 29, 2019.

The Commons on MLK will be in the Harlow Neighborhood at 2411 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The new development would create 51 studio apartments for persons experiencing homelessness and would include full time supportive services staff on-site. Learn more in the The Commons on MLK proposal.

Homes for Good has secured funding for this development. The environmental review required for using federal funds is underway. Construction is expected to begin in late 2019.
