The Mayor’s Bold Steps Award celebrates businesses that implement triple bottom line business practices which benefit the environment and the local economy while supporting employees with opportunities to boost morale, engage in volunteering, and promote work/life balance.
Each year, the City works with a committee to select three Bold Steps finalists from nominated Eugene-based business. The 2020 Finalists for the award are Feynman Group, Marley’s Monsters, and Yogi Tea.
Before the 2020 Bold Steps Award Winner is selected and announced by Mayor Lucy Vinis during the annual State of the City Address in early January, the finalists will have professionally produced promotional videos created that will highlight their sustainable operations. The finalists will be also be celebrated at the Bold Steps Finalist event on Dec. 5 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Civic Winery at 50 E. 11th Ave., in downtown Eugene. Eugene based businesses that are rethink-certified through BRING are eligible to be nominated for the award. The BRING rethink program provides free, on-site consultation that helps businesses reduce waste and save money.
The 2019 winner of the Bold Steps Award was Hummingbird Wholesale.
