[ARCHIVED] Man Arrested After Residential Stabbing

At 12:05 p.m., today, April 6, Eugene Police officers responded to a residence in the 2700 block of E.16th Avenue for a stabbing in progress. Eugene Police officers got to the home quickly and were able to rapidly take a suspect, later identified as Everardo Barrera, age 24, of Eugene, into custody. 


The officers provided life-saving aid to a male victim, age 50, who had a stab wound to an extremity requiring a tourniquet and transitioned care to ESFD paramedics, who transported to a local hospital. 


The stabbing was precipitated by a verbal argument between the two relatives. Barrera was taken into custody for Assault in the Second Degree Abuse Prevention Act and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Case 20-05978



No other subjects were injured in this incident.
