[ARCHIVED] Patrol and K9 response to burglary in-progress and finds suspect intoxicated

On April 13 at 2:54 a.m., Eugene Police officers responded to Spice and Steam, 165 W. 11th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers were informed by the owner of a burglary in progress, with the suspect still in the building.

K9 Officer Owen Griffith and Cwyk went inside and located the suspect, later identified as Kevin Michael Nieto, age 34, of Eugene. Nieto was inside the business’ office slumped over a chair. He appeared extremely intoxicated and had been drinking an expensive bottle of liquor he had found at the location.

Due to Nieto’s level of intoxication he was transported to a local hospital for treatment and he was cited in lieu of custody for Burglary in the Second Degree.
