In accordance with the reopening guidelines for Phase 1 from the State of Oregon and Lane County, all City of Eugene playgrounds, skate parks and sport courts will remain closed.
During this time parks, trails and natural areas continue to be open for use with physical distancing on all paths and trails.
The health and safety of our park users is a top priority. We advise park visitors to follow the Oregon Health Authority’s detailed guidance for the public.
The City of Eugene continues to focus on strategies that support the effort to mitigate spread of COVID-19 in our community, including accommodating homeless people who are temporarily sheltering in place in Eugene’s parks and natural areas. Temporary camping is being accommodated so long as is not within neighborhood parks, it is maintained safely, does not constitute criminal behavior, or pose a significant a public or environmental or health or safety issue that outweighs the need for the individual(s) to shelter in place.
Park Ambassadors and Eugene Park Resource Officers are providing their regular safety presence in the parks and natural areas. Parks staff are able to work with willing campers to try and keep their sites in parks as picked up as possible. Parks and Open Space staff are also working hard to maintain critical services such as garbage pickup, restroom cleaning, mowing, addressing graffiti, vandalism and safety hazards throughout the park system.
