[ARCHIVED] The Best Things We've Seen This Week - Vol. 7

Bike Demo Day from 2019

Welcome to The Best Things We’ve Seen This Week – Vol. 7! We’ve been doing this for a while now and we hope you have found something in the seven weeks of links that has provided some inspiration, hope or respite from the day-to-day. As we start to change our focus to recovery let’s acknowledge that we still have a long way to go.

We want this space to be a place where we can share thinks we think people will like, provide tips for getting through your days at home or to just put a smile on your face. But the underlying reason why we are all home right now can’t be forgotten, so our first link every week is to a resources page on the City of Eugene website where you can find the latest information on what the City is doing, key resources and related information.

And now, enjoy this great video about how an e-bike changed a man’s life. May is Bike Month, so stay tuned through Eugene Rec social media channels for weekly content about how you can enjoy the nicer weather on two wheels – safely.

Bike Demo Day from 2019

  • The City is offering a lot of free, online entertainment right now for you to enjoy during physical distancing. The Hult Center for the Performing Arts has been particularly busy. It has started a trivia night called Tuesdays With Ty. Every Tuesday at 6 pm, Ty will host a virtual trivia night with some other fun surprises along the way. Socially distance with your friends and make a game night out of it. You can view last night’s trivia game on our Facebook now. We can’t wait to "see" you there next week!
  • The Hult Center also hosted a Stay At Home Talent Show on social media. Through the end of April people submitted to the hashtag #HultTalentShow video submissions. Do yourself a favor and spend some time perusing it.
  • Speaking of the Hult Center, missing going to a show? Have a night in with the family and watch this performance of resident company Radio Redux.
  • Or watch this amazing Eugene Symphony performance on the four seasons of the McKenzie River.
  • City of Eugene Cultural Services is still celebrating its success from a great National Dance Week, but it is moving on to other programming. Starting this week it is doing a fashion show! Life indoors has a different look for everyone - some of us are finding ourselves driven to explore originality, imagination, and innovation in unique and fresh ways. Join us for a weekly challenge!
  • Looking for more fresh content to keep your kids engaged during school time? National Geographic has you covered.
  • If you have a bit of time read this argument why outdoor sports should be for everyone from a North Face athlete. Eugene Rec’s Adaptive program couldn’t agree more and has many ways for people to still enjoy getting outside.
  • Been honing your soccer skills at home on a Eugene Rec challenge? The Portland Timbers are still running their PTFC Skills Challenge.

Let’s head into the weekend with a smile

And one more thing...

Here it is, your moment of zen.

Have a good weekend everyone.
