Micromobility
There will be an opportunity for the public to comment on two ordinances to amend city code and enable micromobility in Eugene. People can comment at a public hearing scheduled for Monday, June 15, at 7:30 p.m.
The code amendments seek to:
- Authorize an e-scooter pilot program to occur
- Allow electric micromobility devices to be operated on Eugene’s shared use paths not including East Alton Baker Park
- Create a license requirement for businesses that operate shared micromobility devices such as e-scooters

Speed Limit Reduction
The Eugene City Council is considering an ordinance that would authorize speed limit reductions from 25 MPH to 20 MPH on most neighborhood residential streets. The public hearing will be Monday, June 15, at 7:30 p.m.
Why 20 MPH?
- Lower vehicle speeds help prevent crashes and, if a crash does occur, reduce the harm that results.
- Lowering vehicle speeds is an important component of the City’s adopted Vision Zero Action Plan, which aims to eliminate serious traffic injuries and fatalities within Eugene by 2035.
- 20 MPH speed limits on residential streets would support safer travel conditions for all users, as well as provide a more comfortable environment for people walking and biking.
