[ARCHIVED] Eugene Public Library Continues to Re-Start Services Step-by-Step

Eugene Public Library has restarted two additional services that have been suspended since March 14:

  • Free Summer Reading books for children and teens to keep are now available for pick up at all three library locations.
  • Outside book returns are now open during limited hours at all three locations.

Free Summer Reading books for children and teens are available for pick up at the Downtown Library, Bethel Branch, and Sheldon Branch from Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Library staff are also giving out Summer Reading books at selected Food for Lane County summer meal sites each week.

Outside book returns are now open for limited hours at all three Eugene Public Library locations. Items can be returned to the Downtown Library Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.; or to the Bethel and Sheldon Branches from Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Community members are encouraged to begin returning items now if possible. Although all currently loaned items are not due until mid-September, returning them earlier will make them available for others to enjoy and help space out the Library’s workflow of processing returns.

Eugene Public Library continues to provide free ebooks, audiobooks, movies, and more 24/7. Borrowers can also continue the popular practice of requesting physical books, DVDs, and CDs online or by phone for later pick-up by appointment at curbside.

Through August, all ages can sign up for Summer Reading on the library website and get a raffle chance to win gifts cards to local businesses. Plus: play Summer Reading book bingo for fun, expanded horizons, and another raffle chance. Bingo cards are available on the website.

As the State of Oregon, Lane County, and the City of Eugene advance through reopening phases, Eugene Public Library will continue to restart services gradually and in new ways as necessary with safety as the highest priority. For ongoing updates, visit the library website, sign up for the library newsletter, or follow @euglibrary on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.

Eugene Public Library staff are currently available to assist the public seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call 541-682-5450, email us, use live chat or find more information on our website.
