Baby Bags
All library locations: starting Monday, March 15, while supplies last
Do you have a child up to two years old at home? Drop by any location to pick up a free bag with a colorful bilingual board book, plush puppet, shaker egg, and information, all to help babies develop crucial early literacy skills in fun, easy ways. As the slogan says, "babies need words every day: talk, read, sing, play!"

All ages: take a walk and enjoy a favorite children's picture book in English and Spanish. The illustrated pages are displayed on a series of signs arranged in order along the path to read as you stroll through the park.

Pick up a free child’s book to keep as a gift. Choices will include books for babies through early elementary ages. All books are bilingual or multi-lingual including Spanish and English. A featured choice is the picture book “How to How to Fold a Taco/Como Doblar un Taco” by Naibe Reynoso, who will be a special guest at Family Storytime on April 27.

Join us for a musical gathering to listen to the songs and learn about the influential history of the band Big Star with Craig Leve of KWVA’s “Snap, Crackle, Pop” show and Greg Sutherland from House of Records. NPR called Big Star “the unluckiest band in America.” They released only three records in their short career, each one great and completely different from the other. Despite critical acclaim, poor distribution hampered their first album and hardly anyone heard it. Nevertheless, Big Star amassed a cult following and became a huge influence on indie rock artists of the 80s and 90s, eventually achieving the recognition that eluded them in their time.
