Ken Babbs: Author Talk

Downtown Library and online live: Saturday, January 15, 2:00 p.m.

Join Ken Babbs for a talk about his latest work, "Cronies, A Burlesque: Adventures with Ken Kesey, Neal Cassady, the Merry Pranksters, and the Grateful Dead." Drop in to hear the talk in person at the Downtown Library or watch online on YouTube Live.

Ken Babbs was a co-founder of the Merry Pranksters and continues to be a 1960’s cultural icon. His literary memoir has just been published by Eugene's own Tsunami Press. Its 70 stories express Babbs' spirit of adventure through anecdotes featuring the Grateful Dead, Ken Kesey, Wendell Berry, Allen Ginsberg, and a host of others: the cronies. He calls these tales "burlesques” because at age 85, with many years spent "in the wide friendly center of an evolving, at times psychedelic culture, memory no longer can, or even should include an exact retelling, but only a tasty sprinkling of the truth, mixed with an endless enigma, all topped with the best of humor and heart." Books will be available for purchase at the in-person event, courtesy of Tsunami Books.
