Christopher Ray Hare/Verdict and Sentence:


On October 23, Christopher Ray Hare, age 48, of Eugene, was found guilty on seven charges. He was sentenced today on one count of Unlawfully being in a place where children congregate, three counts of Encouraging Child Sex Abuse in the First Degree and three counts of Encouraging Child Sex Abuse in the Second Degree. 


For the crimes of Encouraging Child Sex Abuse, he was sentenced to life in prison, as he qualified for the sentence as a three time sex offender. His prior convictions involved minor females in Multnomah and Lane County. 



On July 13, 2019, at noon, a woman reported her granddaughter, age 4, was grabbed by a man she didn’t know at the Saturday Market. The grandmother was able to pull her granddaughter away and then the man ran away. The person who was suspected was named as Christopher Ray Hare, age  47, of Eugene. During the investigation, Hare was in jail on a Parole Violation. Hare is listed as a Class III predatory sex offender. He was charged with two counts of Unlawful Contact with a Child. One for Saturday Market and one for verbal contact with a minor female on an LTD bus.
