On May 13, 2020, a member of the Eugene Police Street Crimes Unit learned about a robbery that had occurred on May 3, 2020. A man and woman in a relationship, along with a friend were held inside a room and the man was robbed. Two SCU officers then began investigating and were able to identify and locate the victims. After hours of follow-up, they identified four different suspects and yesterday arrested the final suspect, Kyle Winston Abeene, age 31, of Springfield. SCU found a possible location for Abeene and along with K9 Officer Owen Griffith and K9 Officer Travis Palki, they hailed the residence in Springfield. At 9:25 p.m. on January 5, Abeene was cooperative and taken into custody without incident on charges of Robbery in the First Degree, Kidnapping in the First Degree. He had been lodged at the Lane County Jail.
The other suspects previously arrested:
Richard Charles Kohler, age 33, of Springfield, was arrested on June 8, for Robbery in the First Degree, Kidnapping in the First Degree. Since the arrest, Kohler has been transferred to prison.
Kyle Kenneth Egbert, age 28, was arrested on June 2 for Robbery in the Second Degree, Theft in the First Degree. Since his arrest, he got a plea and is on felony probation.
Gerald Matthew Williams, age 30, of Springfield, was arrested on August 14, 2020, for Robbery in the First Degree, Kidnap in the First Degree. He is currently in custody in Douglas County.
