[ARCHIVED] K9 Capture After Man Runs from Stolen Vehicle

OwenGriffith-Cwyk

On January 6 at 1:14 a.m., a Eugene Police Patrol sergeant saw a pick-up truck stopped in the road and with the driver’s-side door open at W. 12th Avenue. He turned around to check this out and the driver tried to avoid the contact, parking in the Wetlands Bar parking lot at 922 Garfield and then running away on foot. K9 Officer Griffith and Cwyk arrived on-scene ‘quickly’ and began to track. They located the suspect, Samuel Luis Reymundo, age 25, hiding in a fenced area to the south of the parking lot and he was safely taken into custody without incident.

Raymundo was charged with Unauthorized Use Vehicle, Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree, and Carry Concealed Weapon (knife).

The truck was returned to the owner, who reported he had parked it in the 2500 block of Gateway on January 5 around 1:30 a.m.
