[ARCHIVED] EPD Recovers Occupied Stolen U-Haul

Photo of stolen u-haul box truck being unloadedOn April 30 at 5:58 p.m., a Eugene Police sergeant was working patrol and spotted a U-Haul at the mostly empty Target on W. 11th. The sergeant was aware of a report of a stolen 26-foot box truck that had been taken from from the U-haul parking lot, 2150 W. 7th Avenue, on April 27. 

 

The U-haul was occupied, with a female, later identified as Jessica Lee Miles, age 42, in the driver’s seat. When the sergeant approached, a male, later identified as Macjoseph Elmer McKinley, age 24, sat up in the passenger seat. Other officers arrived and the two were taken into custody.  

 

The U-haul was full of the suspect’s property. Patrol response included five officers to carefully sort through the belongings (needles were present) and loaded a CSO truck and a patrol vehicle full of items for safekeeping. 

 

Miles was charged with Unauthorized Use Vehicle, and McKinley with Unauthorized Use Vehicle and warrant
