[ARCHIVED] Man Charged in La Mota Incident

HQ 2

On May 2 at 9:27 p.m., Eugene Police officers responded to La Mota Dispensary, 1291 West 7th Avenue, regarding a disorderly man later identified as Marshall Dean Blansett, age 32, of Eugene. A customer had called after Blansett refused to wear a face covering after being repeatedly asked to do so repeatedly by staff. He also refused to leave the business when told to leave.

Blansett stayed inside the business for about a half an hour before he started to walk into the lobby area from the main business space. The manager tried to shove Blansett completely into the lobby area so he could pull the interior door shut and lock Blansett out of the main business area. However, Blansett turned around and shoved him and he was not able to get the interior door shut. Blansett came back in and shoved the manager to the floor and punched him. Another staff member was also shoved while Blansett went to assault the manager. Blansett left.

Upon follow-up, the officer was able to get an anonymous tip on Blansett, and Blansett agreed to meet with the officer. He was issued a criminal citation for Assault, Harassment, and Criminal Trespassing in the Second Degree. Case 21-06692
