The Ruth Bascom Riverbank Path will be closed — from the Frohnmayer Pedestrian & Bicycle Bridge to the Hilyard Street entrance — starting May 10. The closure signals the beginning of the South Bank Path Project, which will realign and rebuild approximately 3,000 feet of the South Bank Path.
The river path is currently closed — from the DeFazio Pedestrian & Bicycle Bridge to the Hilyard Street entrance — for the construction of the Downtown Riverfront Park. Community members using the river path should plan to use the North Bank Path for continuous travel.
The South Bank Path Project will realign and rebuild the river path and includes:
- A new twelve-foot wide concrete path realigned away from the falling riverbank
- Energy efficient lighting installed along the new concrete path
- Portions of the existing path converted into a gravel walking and running trail
The South Bank Path Project will be complete in fall 2021 and the Downtown Riverfront Park will open in summer 2021. Get ready for a new river path experience this fall!
