UPDATE ON MAY 8, 2021

UPDATE: 

A suspect, Nicholas Kenneth Borden-Cortez, age 26, is in custody in this case. He is lodged at Lane County Jail on charges including two counts of Murder in the First Degree, and Elude by Vehicle. EPD is not yet releasing the victims’ names to allow time for family notifications.

 

Borden-Cortez was taken into custody at 1:05 p.m., on May 7, after a vehicle pursuit that ended at Main Street and Bob Straub Parkway in Springfield. During the pursuit, Borden-Cortez called 911 and advised he had a gun. Once stopped by police, he exited the vehicle with a knife and challenged police to shoot him. However, he was safely taken into custody. He was lodged on Elude by Vehicle and two counts of Murder in the First Degree.


INFORMATION RELEASED ON MAY 7, 2021

On May 7, at 10:25 a.m. Eugene Police responded to a suspicious conditions call at a home in the Falconwood Mobile Home Park at 1475 Green Acres Road. Eugene Police Violent Crimes Unit was called in and is conducting a death investigation. 

 

Victim names are not being released until family has been notified. There are no outstanding suspects or ongoing threats to the mobile home park or community.
