[ARCHIVED] Street Crimes Unit Arrests Man for Drug Delivery

SCU News

In March 2021, the Eugene Police Street Crimes Unit received information that McKenzie Daniel Harris, age 29, of Eugene, was using a social media account to offer illegal drugs. A ruse was employed, resulting in Harris agreeing to sell some methamphetamine. Harris was detained by members of the Street Crimes Unit on his arrival at the meet-up location coordinated for an illegal drug sale. Subsequently, the Street Crimes Unit applied for a residential search warrant, and it was granted by a Lane County Circuit Court judge. Upon transitioning to Harris’ residence on Stults Avenue, SCU conducted a search that yielded roughly 14 pounds of methamphetamine, which has an estimated wholesale street value of nearly $50,000 dollars. The residence also contained several ounces of suspected heroin, worth an additional several thousand dollars. Delivery materials were located, along with more than $18,000 dollars of cash. Harris was arrested for Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine.

SCU is dedicated to targeting immediate and acute community safety system issues while working toward mission-critical enhancements that need to be addressed through a longer-term and broader community safety initiative. The unit currently consists of a lieutenant, a sergeant and eight officers.
