County Risk Level framework ended June 30
Oregon Governor Kate Brown has announced Oregon will lift restrictions related to COVID-19, with some exceptions, starting June 30, 2021. For more information, please visit the state's COVID-19 website.
The City extends its gratitude to the community for all that's been done to help protect each other over the last year. Your efforts and sacrifices saved lives and made a difference.
COVID-19 is still present in our community, so we should continue reasonable precautions as much as possible. Even if you are fully vaccinated, remember to wash your hands frequently, cover your cough, and stay home if you are sick. If you haven’t had the opportunity to get the vaccine yet, walk-ins are now welcome at Lane County Public Health vaccine clinics. Appointments are still encouraged. You can get more information on the Lane County website.
Holiday Safety and Temporary South Hills Fireworks Ban
As we get ready to celebrate Independence Day we hope everyone can enjoy a fun and safe holiday.
As a reminder, Oregon law prohibits illegal fireworks, which include any firework that flies into the air, explodes, or travels more than 12 feet horizontally on the ground, throughout the entire city, without a permit. Fireworks commonly called bottle rockets, Roman Candles, and firecrackers are illegal throughout Oregon, including Eugene.
Due to the severe drought conditions and the upcoming 4th of July holiday, the Eugene City Council voted unanimously to temporarily ban all fireworks in the south hills, south from 18th Avenue and east of Agate Street through 2021 and 2022. This ban, effective immediately, was a necessary step for public health and safety. The ban includes legal fireworks like fountains, flitter sparklers, ground spinners and wheels. You can learn more on the City’s website.
