[ARCHIVED] Man Arrested After Threatening People at Employment Office

On August 9 at 9:45 a.m. officers were called to Lane County Employment Office, 2510 Oakmont Way, after a disorderly man was reported to be armed with a knife and threatening employees. 

 

During the incident, the man, Michael Lewis Wilcox, age 41, of Springfield, is reported to have come into the office building and when told the location did not provide the type of services he was asking for, become upset. He pulled from his backpack various items, including a  wine bottle, knife, scissors and another sharp object. He was asked to leave, but became angry. He is reported to have stuck the knife in the wine bottle cork where it remained there during the incident. He made threats to hurt employees but an employee was able to get him to leave exit the building. 

 

Wilcox taken into custody without incident by arriving officers and was transported to the Lane County Jail on a charge of Disorderly Conduct.
