[ARCHIVED] Street Crimes Unit Focuses on Park Areas

Eugene Police Street Crimes Unit has been working patrols in Eugene parks and this week they focused some time on 13th and Commerce, Washington-Jefferson, and Monroe Park areas. The following arrests are part of a park-focused patrol project that is ongoing in the near future.

 

James Miner Nicolas, age 25, of Springfield,  was taken into custody on warrants on August 19 at 2:46 p.m. in the 200 block of Jefferson. Nicholas had arrived in the area by vehicle and was spotted walking south on Jefferson Street near the railroad tracks. The officer knew him from previous contacts and knew he had warrants for arrest out of several different counties. He was taken into custody without incident. Case 21-12842

 

Brandon Lee Birman, age 24, of Coos Bay, was contacted on August 19 at 4:35 p.m. at W. 4th Avenue and Washington, after he was observed trespassing at PLATT Electric and smoking marijuana in the parking lot. He was taken into custody on warrants. Case 21-12844

 

Aaron Edward Dumbke, age 48, of Springfield, was arrested on August 19 at 3:39 p.m. in the 300 block of Lawrence Street.  Dumbke was observed in a heroin deal, trading steaks for some heroin, and then he drove to the market at 1st and Jefferson and was surrounded by people from in and around the park. Officers arrived and the crowd scattered. Dumbke was contacted and taken into custody on a charge of Unlawful Delivery Controlled Substance Heroin.  Case 21-12845 

 

Christine Michelle Ansari, age 32, of Eugene was contracted on August 19 at 7:59 p.m. at the Rose Garden Parking lot, 300 N. Jefferson after she was observed in a vehicle window to window with another vehicle smoking. There was an exchange of an item and officers noted Ansari’s vehicle and that her driver’s license privileges were suspended. After a traffic stop, Ansari was cited with Violation of Park rules as she had been smoking ‘dabs,’ a concentrated form of marijuana in the park area, as well as Driving While Suspended. Case 21-12856.  The driver of the other vehicle, Jerome Marzell Reynolds, age 35, of Sweet Home, was stopped at 1st and Jefferson after leaving the park and taken into custody on a warrant. Case 21-12860

 

On August 19 at 8:30 p.m., officers observed a man, later identified as Chad Charles Lien  driving multiple times around Washington-Jefferson Park then taking a U-Turn around Clark/Madison. When the officer came around, he saw Lien stopped in the lane of travel. The officer performed a traffic stop and was found to not have a driver’s license or insurance. He was cited for Driving While Suspended. Incident 21-212314.
