[ARCHIVED] Eugene Mayor Lucy Vinis appointed to the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Local Government Advis

Mayor Vinis

Eugene Mayor Lucy Vinis has been appointed to the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Local Government Advisory Committee (LGAC).  Mayor Vinis is thrilled to be awarded the position and brings her commitment for climate action, environmental justice, and clean water as a representative of Eugene and medium sized cities.

“I look forward to working with my local government colleagues in service to our nation,” said Mayor Vinis. “This opportunity culminates my career in environmental research, advocacy, and public service as an elected official. I am joining fellow LGAC member, and Coos County Commissioner, Melissa Cribbins in representing Oregon’s unique natural environment and the communities that are supported by clean water, air, and land. My commitment to climate action and just federal environmental policy will be a hallmark of my work on the LGAC.”

The EPA received more than 150 nominations and appointed 34 new positions to the LGAC, including Mayor Vinis. The full LGAC will hold its first meeting this fall. A complete list of appointees is available on the EPA website

Chartered in 1993 under the Federal Advisory Committee Act, the Local Government Advisory Committee provides independent policy advice to the EPA Administrator on a broad range of issues affecting local governments.  For more information about the LGAC, please visit https://www.epa.gov/ocir/local-government-advisory-committee-lgac.
