[ARCHIVED] Suspect Arrested Following Menacing Incident at Express Inn & Suites

On September 28, at approximately 7:39 a.m., police responded to the Express Inn & Suites, 990 W 6th Avenue, regarding a disorderly subject who was yelling and threatening people at the location. Responding officers received information that the suspect, Zachary Ryan Carter, age 28, of Springfield, had caused alarm to several people at the location. 

 

Carter was approached by an employee regarding his behavior and displayed a knife to the female employee and ran after the woman. She was able to make it back safely to the office. The Crisis Negotiation Team responded to assist Patrol, and made several attempts to contact Carter, who continued to behave in a volatile manner, presenting a threat to patrons and officers at the location. He was eventually taken into custody with the use of a taser and resisted arrest. He was transported to the hospital for evaluation and subsequently transported to the Lane County Jail on charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Menacing, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, and Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree.
