Crime Scene Tape for Ongoing Investigation image

On October 10 at 1:52 a.m. all available Eugene Police officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired near W. 8th Avenue and Olive Street. Arriving officers determined the shots were fired in front of a parking lot at the corner of W. 8th Avenue and Willamette Street. Bystanders reported the shots were fired after a dispute that began at a bar in the 700 block of W. Broadway. The responding officers contacted numerous witnesses and people who were fleeing the area due to the noise from gunfire. Officers located a vehicle nearby that had multiple bullet holes in it.

During the fight several men had been involved, fighting with one man, later identified as Wyatt Thomas Galloway III, age 22, of Eugene. Security at a local bar tried to intervene to pull the male subjects apart. Galloway was identified as the assault victim. Those involved in the fight had separated and Galloway had left with a Eugene woman, age 21, who was also a victim. Galloway was located and he had an attempt to locate for a separate and different incident from 2020, case 20-00137. He was arrested for Unlawful Use Weapon, Menacing, and Assault in the Fourth Degree.

The victims of the October 10 incident were uncooperative and refused to assist officers with the case. The incident is still under investigation and the suspect(s)  in the shooting are not known, nor if the shooting was related to the assault incident. If anyone has information in this case they are asked to contact Detective Chris Vreim, 541.682.5192.
