[ARCHIVED] (UPDATE/Photo) Downtown assault under investigation, witnesses sought

Violent Crimes detectives are continuing to investigate the assault from last week and asking media and public for help reaching out to the person in the photo who was in the area at the time of the incident.

On October 29 at 10:01 a.m., Eugene Police received report of an assault in an alley in the 900 block of Olive. 

 

The victim reported being attacked by a person described as armed with a bladed object. Arriving officers located the victim, who was transported to a local hospital by Eugene Springfield Fire for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

 

A person of interest was located by EPD officers at 10:32 a.m. and detained with the help of a K9 unit. The individual received medical attention for dog bite. A bladed object was recovered. There is no ongoing threat to the neighborhood area or community regarding this incident.

 

Violent Crimes Unit responded to continue the investigation.  Additional resources included EPD Forensics Evidence Unit, Evidence Control Unit, and EPD community service officers.
