On 11:40 a.m., November 10, Central Lane 911 aired a shots fired call near 1100 block of Willamette Street and two Eugene Police Downtown officers quickly responded. Due to the nature of the call, other additional patrol units responded in emergency mode as well.
It was reported that a man had shot a firearm toward another and then walked into a nearby apartment building after a dispute over use of a parking space. An officer and sergeant spotted the suspect, later identified as Patrick Robert Terrill, age 40, looking down over a second story balcony of the apartments and verbally contacted him. They asked Terrill to come downstairs to speak with them and he complied. Terrill was detained and then Terrill was transported to Lane County Jail on charges of Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Menacing, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
The victim and Terrill are unknown to each other.
Eugene Police Street Crimes Unit officers assisted patrol with the application of a search warrant, which was granted by a judge. Once the warrant was granted, SCU aided in serving it. During the search, officers found numerous firearms. Eugene Police Forensic Evidence Unit also assisted at the scene.
