On December 4 at 3:33 a.m., officers responded to 7-Eleven, 588 W. 7th, for a report of a dispute. At the time of the call, the victim, a 45-year-old male employee had been assaulted by a group of male subjects, after confronting one of them about an attempted theft.

The suspects entered the store at around 3:26 a.m. The victim was working the cash register and reports he saw a suspect grab food items from the shelf and conceal them in his pants pocket and conceal them. The victim confronted the suspect and the suspect complied in putting the items back. The victim escorted the suspect out and then there was a verbal dispute, which turned physical when the suspect pushed the victim, and then later punched him in the nose. The fight ended outside the store and three other suspects got involved.

At some point, while still fighting, another employee intervened and pulled the victim back into the store and the four suspects stayed outside of the 7-Eleven but then began to kick and hit the glass entry doors and windows with some sort of pole. The suspects fled on foot shortly after. Officers were unable to locate the suspects.
