[ARCHIVED] Recent school threats on social media (no credible, local threat at this time)

Eugene Police Headquarters Sign

Recent school threats on social media

Eugene Police received inquiries from local media regarding posts on TikTok directed at schools. TikTok is a global social media platform.

We are aware of this through previous communications with the FBI and have looped in Bethel School District and School District 4J. We do not have a specific, credible local threat that has been made to our local schools and will continue to work with the schools, the FBI, and monitor the social media. Please take this opportunity to talk with your student about the seriousness and resulting consequences of making any kind of threat, and about appropriate use of social media. Encourage them to tell you or an adult at their school if they see or hear anything suspicious, so appropriate action can be taken immediately.

Please call 541.682.5111 if you have information regarding a local threat, or 911 it is an immediate life/safety issue. We will continue to work with the schools and FBI and keep you informed.
