At 11:34 p.m. on December 26, Eugene Police Patrol officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of Talon Street regarding a fight. While they were on the way, officers were informed by dispatch that this was related to a vehicle break-in. A resident had spotted a man later identified as Cody Shane Parker, age 33, of Eugene, breaking into one of the family’s vehicles and taking items from inside. The residents of the home did not know the man. There was a woman with Parker, later identified as Rebecca Sue Weston, age 38, of Eugene. The resident ran outside and chased Parker and caught him. Parker was cooperative and walked back to the scene of the theft, but fled a short time later. Weston had also departed on foot.
K9 Officer Griffith and Cwyk arrived with other officers and they started to track the pair. It was snowing extremely hard throughout this track, making the track more challenging. Officer Griffith, Cwyk and another officer successfully tracked Parker to a home under construction. Parker again fled on foot after being challenged. Parker ran into the backyard in the 3400 block of Quail Meadow Way and into a utility trailer. The K9 team and an assisting officer took Parker into custody. Parker was charged with Theft in the First Degree, Unlawful Entry into a Motor Vehicle, Interfering with a Peace Officer, and two counts of Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree, as well as warrants. He was lodged at Lane County Jail after being medically cleared at a local hospital.
Weston was located on N. Delta Hwy walking south by an officer and was taken into custody on warrants.
