Are you curious about electric cars? Switching to an electric vehicle is one of the most important steps you personally can take to help our community meet its goals for reducing carbon emissions. EVs also don’t exhaust other hazardous pollutants, so choosing an electric vehicle makes the air healthier for us all to breathe. EVs have benefits to you as a driver too, including lower fuel and maintenance costs.
It may seem risky to try a new technology, particularly for an expensive purchase like a car. There are so many questions: Will the car have enough driving range? Are the batteries safe? How long does it take to recharge? Can I take advantage of any tax incentives or rebates?
To answer your questions, the City is partnering with other local communities, utilities, and nonprofits to offer rEV Up!, a workshop that provides an introduction to electric vehicles. Hosted by volunteer members of the Emerald Valley Electric Vehicle Association, these workshops are your chance to get all of your questions answered by experienced local EV owners.
Presently, the free workshops are delivered by Zoom videoconference. The next opportunities are Thursday, January 27 and Wednesday, February 16, both at 7 p.m. Register to receive the Zoom link at www.revuporegon.org. Take the mystery out of electric vehicles and rEV Up!
